    Cursing on CB

I do not find the f word thrown into cb conversation offensive or unusual as it is the way most people talk when there working, it is part of our modern vocabulary. I have however heard a few on lsb 38, from Newyork city , who were nothing short of nasty, abusive and frankly unbalanced...

    11 meter is very quiet?

I do not run any power, but do have some gain, about 8dbi, running a co-phased linear array ( IE pair of full wave loops) Does work very well, but it did not get me out. I think for long skip, the distance is just to great for my 12 watts. My longest shot sems to be about 1400 miles, that is my...

Will be checking in over the day. I did hear a 357, on 28 am, and on 38 lsb , perhaps the 357 from here?? He did acknowledge my...

    Beams...yagi or quad

Yes I understand that. I had no problem at all with the one I built, it was a spider beam, 2 directors, a driven and a reflector, it had good swr, just trimmed the driven, as in tuning a dipole, I had good swr. I do run 75 ohm coax from antenna to the shack swr meter, then 50 ohm from meter to...

    Beams...yagi or quad

With a beam, be sure and get it up high, I had one at 30 feet, it did not perform well, went to a 2 full wave loop array, at 36 feet to the feed, working very well, I had no way to get the beam higher, I suspect they need 52 or more feet for cb to get the best out of them.

    Beams...yagi or quad

you should not need a match, I had a 3 element, no match problem, it's just a dipole at the feed.

    Anyone tried this?

I now make them with 3 cross sticks, the middle one with 2 - 4 footers tie wrapped, so the can be slid in and out. Those orange driveway marker rods work well or 3/4 by 3/4 pines or spruce. Best way to tune is break the loop at the bottom, and shorten as required, and use a wirenut, then solder...

    Anyone tried this?

You can see my post, best antenna of my life, I have 2 of these wired together with equal lengths of coax to a tee, then a a short piece to my radio. Simply amazing set up. I have run loops single or arrayed like this, I think there is nothing better. Mine are about 6 feet wide by 12 feet tall...

Base Best antenna of my life

Yes this setup is working great. I still do not know how well I am getting out off the sides of this thing, time will tell. The solution of course is another set, have a n/s and an east west set, or put both loops on rotors. More than I have time, money or space to do right now, but maybe in the...

Who always keeps "protection" handy???? (antenna related!)

The charge is built up in the cloud, the cloud acts like a giant capacitor, filled with positive charge, high ground points on the earth are the negative discharge points. Planes are hit because they happen to be flying through a discharge, wrong place at the wrong time.
