Why not tell people how you use an oscilliscope to verify an amplifier is splattering all over the RF spectrum?

This is for experimental purposes only. If someone has a simple circuit they can PM me.

I have experimented with various ones over the years but never a really good one. I would like to fine an unstable or wideband oscillator circuit.

It has already been said RF is RF. If your theory was true driving a tube amplifier with a solid state radio would cause issues and the same goes for driving a tube radio into a solid state amplifier. Just another CB myth.

I do get a small "pop" from using a relay and foot pedal but the radio relies on the normally closed contacts of the relay for the receive audio (cobra 2000) I too run some audio gear, mixer condenser mics etc. and once you get it all working right it will defiantly sound way better than just a...

What are some of the ways people know of building a simple signal jammer? An old radio on a car battery does not count, unless it uses a 555 timer triggered by the signal meter to key the radio for 60 seconds after the agitator keys up. We have a real winner around us let me tell you.

If you are showing a noticeable amount of power loss like say 20% then more than likely it is something besides the "pills"

At 90 watts it is producing more IMD than it would at 60. It has been a while since I have looked at it on spec analyzer but from I remember it was noticeable. I would go check now but the CRT went south on my spec analyzer:sad: IMD is going to be there with any of the pills if you drive them...

So you say they were idling really high, why not just adjust the voltage/current to still be in the AB region? Was it trying to runaway?

Why not just build something from scratch. There are a lot of parts in texas star amplifiers that leave a lot to be desired.

More than likely the bias circuit was staying on after unkey and causing the amp to heat up. Class B is not an upgrade from AB. Justin probably did not change the voltage or current to the base of the pills anyway so the bias supply is probably still the same.

Just use a chap stick or a sharpee:D

You are right Bob, they will transmit on most of the HF band but they are crap. They need a lot of work to work correctly. I am not talking about filtering I am talking about the issues with oscillation and crummy bias design.

Are you saying they make a filter for in band IMD or that the ALS will have less IMD than the TS amp?
