    it like all old and current ham gear is supposed to be grounded to your houses main ground rod. usually people will use a distribution block with all there gear on it and run a heavy copper wire to the houses main ground point. its usually where the electical enters the house. it should be outside.

    i don't know what the stick midland color codes are. i think white is audio. op en the mic and see what wire runs to the ptt switch, that's the transmit. the wire to goes up to the mic cartage is the audio

    the audio wire is the wire that goes all the way up to the element in the microphone. the transmit is the switched side of the ptt switch in the pic. one side is grounded and the other is open. when the ptt swich is engaged it grounds the transmit pin. its pin 1

    quite the opposite actually, the numbers are impressive when you take in to account the amount of licensed ham that are expiring and old classes that are no longer valid. number from last month (june 2012) have techs up 20% and generals and extras up 11% over the previous month. (may 2012)
