the amp is pretty lame so dont trade but i dont think the radio is worth keeping, same as a lot of the sharps and kraco models inside. low dollar budget cb's.
yes the 2950 has a frequency display not a counter, it only reads what its programed to, not the actual frequency it is on. you can make it show whatever you want. put one side to side with a real radio and you will see its a toy.
buy a used hf radio, no drift and you wont find anything that works ssb better.
i had a magnum s9, it was a pos with no cross channel rejection and it drifted on ssb
my guess it uses the same ranger 6900 series mainboard that the newer galaxys and superstars use. almost certonly going to drift a bit as every other radio with that main board does.
could be auction software ware to. my sniper program will automatically bid if i lose out on another auction. the buyer may not even have opened the auction page.
thats about the only way your going to find fm. in the us you cant use fm on cb, its am or ssb. in the uk its fm but you would need to be on our "freeband" frequency's, 27.4150 and above.
those wont work for us use, they are 80 channel because they have 40 am and 40 fm. unfortanily there frequency's are above ours. they would work for our common higher freeband frequency's. a standard exprt radio would do what you want and not be limited in power like the uk radios.

dont waste your time with that radio. the 2sc2999 and Schottky diode swap works great on pll controlled radios. your rci's noise comes from the processor. i did it to one of my old 2970's and it didn't improve anything. you will always have white noise.
i can help you do it if you want but...
i did this on a 2547, it works very very well but mine was installed using the talkback pot, i didn't use talkback and it was nice having variable gain. if you talk to anyone in town you cant use it at all. they will just sound garbled. the closest to me was 8 miles away or so.
left is j1 middle j2, right is j3.
j1 is the expanded frequency, j2 allows you to select between frequency and ch display, and j3 turns the rb switch into emergency channel 9
they say it has to take 80w-to 100w drive to reach maximum power because thats part of the laws regarding 10m amps. any amp that is able to achieve maximum power with less drive cannot be used.
unfortuanly for the bidders they dont realize you can get them from h&y for $239 (currently out of...
glad you didnt buy them, they are am only.
the trc 453 from radioshack was pretty small and cheap. something a little smaller was the trc 465.
midland 79-290's used to be fairly cheap but there getting up there now.
Mundara SY-201 was another that could have been imported from oz.
i know lots of hams that have done illegal things, hell tune into 80m any night of the week.
i know i have ran beyond legal limit at times and even done some freebanding. ohh noes, please dont take my fancy general class licence.
