I've wondered how some of the Mexicans down south get those 5 second "beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep" tones on their radio? Must be one hell of a cap they have?
Hello 6.0 liter,
What brings me here, is the U.S. Air Force sending me to SJ. I appreciate the channels.
Would definitely be cool to meet up. I am buying a home in northern Goldsboro and hope they don't mind if I erect a few base station antennas.
I just recently moved from MO to NC. Had the CB on the whole time. Aside from 2 maybe 3 truck drivers, I didn't hear much.
Word on the street is some of the newer truck drivers don't run a CB while the older ones are tired of the B.S. heard on the CB.
Don't hear much but skip in NC. Sure do...
I used to have one of those TNT HD 600's. Never had a problem with it, got me heard on LSB all the time, plus get me heard on AM as well. Probably shouldn't have sold it, I guess it was one of the better ones?
Oh well....
I have read on a few trucking forums, that today's new breed of truck drivers, do not even run a CB in their truck. That may explain part of the reason why channel 19 is quiet.
Another reason is some are tired of the non sense on CB, are tired of the skip chatter (they're not hobbyists like you...
WTB: 4-6 pill amp in eastern NC area. Looking for a straight 4 or 6 pill amp with Toshiba 2SC2879's, but will also consider Toshiba 2SC2290's or SD-1446's. Prefer class AB1 amp but will consider class C as well.
Please PM me with what you have, pics and price and location. Prefer to do...
You must be, because I used to run a 257HP into a TNT HD 600 thru LMR-240UF into a 108 whip, and could be heard over the door bell AND the computer speakers. Later I had the same set up indoors except I used an Imax 2000 and could produce enough RF to stop our DVR from playing, and I even had...
For a beginner, I always recommend these two radios:
Cobra 25 LTD
Uniden PC68
Either of these radios can be had for under $100 new, and only contain the bare essentials needed like mic gain and RF gain.
The Cobra 29 that was mentioned is also good, but it costs a few bucks extra for a...
I just recently acquired one of these radios and did the mod as described. So far it works good.
As for resistor removal, I used a regular soldering iron, and made sure it was hot and the tip was sharp and with the iron in one hand a pair of tweezers in the other, I heated the resistor just...
My furthest contact on was to a guy in Italy from Missouri on 27.380. Met him on 38 LSB during a pile up and my call apparently got out over everyone else s. He asked if I'd move 5 KHz down, and I did. We had a great chat while everyone else was left on 27.385 trying to get back to him. LOL
W9CLL is about right on. Get your ham ticket. There's still folks on HF in the ham world.
11 meters around here is dead except when skip comes or when 19 has a few truck drivers passing thru. Sometimes 38 LSB has a few on but not many.
2 meters we have some traffic, not that much and 70...
