hey guys, thanks for such great information! i really didnt expect to get such alot of interesting backround on the old k40 / wilson antennas.many thanks Master Chief, and also to you Switch Kit,good to see your still around and merry christmas to you too.all the best from the U.K.
just wondering how users of the k40 thought they performed against other mobiles on the market...such as the wilson, sirio and the like,i use a 1/4 wave when static but its not very practical for mobile use.i also own the sirio 4000 but it must have a fault as its deaf.how does the good old K40...
the new prices are very good but one problem,i'm in the uk so shipping/import costs may be prohibitive.if something costs $300 in the U.S. it will cost £300 ($563) in the U.K. we've been scratching our heads for years how something nearly doubles in price sitting in a shipping container as it...
Thanks 007 and also to you Qrn, the information from actual users of the radios is by far the best way to evaluate any pro's and cons of different gear.i will look out for an 857 on ebay and see how i get on.
put the antenna on the roof,a base loaded antenna with a steel whip will take a hell of a beating before it gives up.and replacement whips are cheap anyway.keep a trunk full of spares!!
hi number one,
the reason for buying one of the above radios is purely down to having no space in my mobile to mount any normal radio, but i can mount one of the above using a seperation kit.
the reason for 20w ssb, is to run into a small mobile linear, which peaks at approx 600w out on ssb, i...
i am thinking of buying either an ic 706 mk 1 or 2. an ft 100 or an ft 857 for use as a small mobile radio, however i need to be able to adjust the power output down to a maximum of 20 w on ssb.can any one advise me if this is possible on all of these radios? many thanks in advance.
i think that radio manufacturers have maybe overlooked the market for remote face radios, and a previous post is right about the radios being basically the same as they were in the seventies,i suppose if the market is biggest in the U.S.,who also drive a high percentage of suv/offroad/mpv...
thanks for the replies so far guys, the wide-neo is a great looking radio, but i use ssb around .555 so no go on this one.one of the other things i have noticed is the high price of cb radio gear, when compared with radios like the yaesu ft100 and icom 706 on the second hand market, the difference...
was using a lincoln in my 4 wheel drive, but now gone back to smaller family car and guess what? no room for a radio! i have tried every possible place but no-go.i have come to the conclusion that i need a radio with a seperation cable,so that i can mount the face like a sat nav unit. thinking of...
hi all, i have a lincoln that i dont use very often,i had a radio report from a station on ssb who said my audio appeared to be cutting out,i have ruled out the microphone and am wondering whether the radios previous owner may have played inside with the dreaded screwdrivers, when talking...
hey turbo, great set up my friend,i would give my left t*sticle for a station like that! i'm sure we wont have any problems hearing you over here in the uk...go easy on us!
by the way....who let the wife out of the kitchen?...lol 73.
i thought it would be helpful to be able to see the controls in the car at night,i struggle to see my lincolns lcd display as it is at a slight angle to my driving position,so i thought a 200 or maybe a magnum s9 may be the answer.
thats interesting H H, most reviews i 've seen have been pretty favourable, what would you guys recommend for the same price?the only other concern i did have was running the radio through an amplifier which will only take 20w ssb input.
i would'nt expect the world as far as performance, as...
i've gotta laugh,i want to buy a cobra 200,hard to get hold of in the uk and expensive, i know, i will buy from the U.S.and get it shipped over! every cb shop i checked out on the web and contacted says..... sorry we do not ship to the uk at this time,am i missing something here? i thought it...
