Has anyone ever received any CB radio repair services from "CB Man" (CBMANTN@gmail.com)? Pros/Cons; He’s set up at a truck stop in TN, and travels to several truck stops up and down the TN area Interstates. He’s had a couple of my radios for over 8 months and I’m not getting much assistance or...
WELL GUYS,
Someone suggested on one of the Forums I'm monitoring, to disconnect the power supply and hook up a battery to the radio to see if the noise is still there. If the noise is gone while on the battery, then the noise problem while using the the 110v pwr supply, is actually the...
Thanks for the ideas,
This is a New Galaxy DX959, (with a SSB upgarde peak & tune service) MFD date 6/2019 and placed in service 10/2019. I have heard of the many problems with this model's SSB drifting when the unit is cold. My radio is on 12-14 hrs/day so I am pretty sure it is "warmed up"...
I am using a Mobile radio, but both of my antennas are Base antennas. A ProComm Proton PT99 (like Anton 99), a 18', four section fiberglass Commercial CB Base Station Antenna. It is mounted on a 12' metal mast , mounted on the side of my house, top height is at about 32'. The other antenna...
Thanks,
Switching between AM - SSB, the S-meter stays about the same, but the receive noise goes crackly and it is hard the pick out the talking; and the clarifier does not adjust out any of the crackling noise.
Just getting back into CBing , after almost 50 years, since early '70s. Use to be just a mobile user with a Realistic TRC 448, 40 chl, and talked "skip" all over, from down in the Alamo City.
Now I'm using a mobile Galaxy DX959 as a base station with a Proton 99 antenna and a
Twinpoint B-100...
Can the radials of a ground plane kit be mounted pointed upwards instead of downwards?
I'm not a Ham or radio expert, just a CB dummy.
I have a Procomm, Patriot 12, Omnidirection 1/2 wave fiberglass antenna mounted on a 16' mast, mounted against the side of my house. I have height...
WELL, after tightening up a couple screws inside the base on the metal contact springs of the talk button, I then noticed intermittent power and modulation when moving the wire at the mic plug. After opening the plug I noticed a couple wires that were possibly touching when the mic plug wire...
I'm an old CB'er from the '70's and just trying to get back into the fun after all these years. I have a couple "old" Realistic 448's that I was having trouble with, so sent them off to have them checked and "tweaked" but it's not sounding promising after 5 mos. In the mean time I bought a new...
I'm thinking about picking up a good Palomar 225. Any suggestions on availability? I see a couple available on Ebay around low $100s, but I'm not certain of their operational condition.
I did pick up a HYS TC-300N (new). It's showing over 100W on Low and just over 200W on High, haven't tried...
Ordered a Large:
1 Unit 102X65X20mm Ultra Large Power Transformer ferrite core Isolator ferrite Ring RF Choke ferrite
Ran the washer elec cord thru it with 4 coils and hooked it back up again. It didn't help decreasing any noise interference from the washer on the radio. I might be able to...
I know in a car or truck you will experience frequency noise caused by the eng or elec system, but how can you eliminate or decrease a noise in a base station radio possibly caused by a 110v washing machine or even the motor of a paper shredder?
When ever my wife is doing laundry, I get the...
EASIER SAID THAN DONE! lol. I have forgotten most of what I learned from my Air Force days.
You see, I was a "Manual Morse Intercept Operator" (Ditty Bopper), USAFSS , (R29231, R20731, R20751),back in the early '70s. I should know the code, but it's been a long time. I really wasn't very...
Found a couple old TRC-448's. One was my late father-in-law's, and 1 I got off EBAY from a guy in Canada. The one from Ebay looks almost new, and the 1 from my father-in-law was sitting in an old garage for over 30+ years. Both seemed to work OK. Just looking for some thoughts as to...
