I’m looking for some install ideas for a 2021 chevy Silverado. I’m looking for radio placement ideas and antenna locations. Any pictures would help. Thanks in advance.
Good afternoon everyone. A little something I think people might get a kick out of. We are at the mother in laws doing gingerbread houses. Couldn’t complete my house without an antenna out back
I’ve had the Sirio up for just about 3 weeks now and I’m still very happy I took the advice to upgrade. With my antenna being only 14 feet off the ground and 34 feet to the top I’ve had loud and clear conversations with a guy 27.7 miles away. Can’t complain about that.
The Sirio 2016 was delivered today and I wasted no time getting it up on the mast. First impression is good. Incoming signals seem cleaner and clearer. Outgoing I’m loud and clear but haven’t hooked up with anyone yet from a decent distance. I made notes of the A99 and Sirio 2016. Getting...
If I were to upgrade to a 5/8 wave antenna is it harder to tune or as easy as this A99? I saw a couple antennas that were mentioned on this thread but can we name a couple others so I can get a good idea on what to start looking at?
Well today I got the antenna raised. I’m actually hearing a lot more activity which is great. Frustrating part is I still couldn’t reach back to 95% of what I heard. Two contacts I made were both about 9 air miles away. Do I turn to more power now or is there more I can do to my antenna?
Well to be honest with you I’m not sure. I’m new to the base station stuff and have opened a door into a whole different world. My cb experience has always been mobile either in a personal vehicle or tractor trailer. The radio I set up as my base is a Stryker 655 ( now I wish it was the 955)...
Yea I fiddled a lot to get it there. One last question that I have gotten mixed answers on. When I take the antenna down this weekend should I use dielectric grease at the connections on the 3 sections of the antenna, where the antenna clamps against the galvanized mast, and the coaxial...
I double checked my SWR when I got home from work. Just about an even 1.2 on 1 and 40. That was the best I was able to get. Can that change with height or is it the same since the antenna length isn’t changing?
That’s what I’m thinking first. I want the antenna as right as possible. I’d go higher but there this thing called a wife to get it past . My SWR’s are pretty good. 1.3-1.4
