Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Xracerx13, Wow! You just taught me something that I have never come across. As I had mentioned, I have never had to replace these and so I never really paid any of attention to their actual values or how to verify them. Sorry its been a while since I have checked in. There has been a...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Thank you Xracerx13, I have never had to replace these, not even once, so I really had no idea accept maybe to take them out of the circuit and ohm them out. Now with that being said, these variables here are the metal ones. What I do see is the number 101 engraved into them for the final...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello, Thank you again Xracer13, and of course thank you to all who have been helping, not only with this particular subject but also with my other subject pertaining the same radio in another Post. I now have quite a bit of parts but I am still in the process of trying to order more. I...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, I have been away from my bench PC, and for some reason I cannot login from my cell phone. I have been creating a list of parts. Hopefully I will be able to hunt down all of them. Thank you for the idea of getting them from Klondikemike, I will look into this for sure. You...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Xracer13, This will be a big help, as I really didn't know where to turn. Funny though, I have been to this site from time to time, but I wasn't searching for anything in particular. And it had been a long time, so I had totally forgotten about it. Thanks a bunch for the link. The...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, Yeah I really don't know at this point, but I was the cause. I say this because I was trying to key an external box that needed a PTT to RCA in order to key the box. I was just testing the radio and decided to key the box by just grounding out the RCA to bring in the relay...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Nomadradio, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. As mentioned in my previous post... "I have been studying the the schematic, and making a Shot Gun Parts list for now." And to have them on hand. I am hoping this gets figured out with what's causing the low audio so to learn...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello cable Guy, Yeah camber/caster is for the shop that has the alignment equipment. But Hey, if it drives like a new one, you must had gotten pretty darn close! Good Job. Yes, I wired the mic audio to pin 1, mic ground, and mic ground to mic audio, reversing the wires on the radio mic...

Hello Xracer13, Thank you for the link, and yes I already have it. But maybe someone who may come on here, may not, so thank you for the link just the same. All the best, RF Krazy

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Well the ohm meter is showing 10 meg ohms between pin 1 mic ground and chassie ground when powered on. With the power turned off, the meter doesn't show any ohms at all. It seems to me there is something shorted to ground along the mic circuit bringing the audio down. I am not sure what...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Okay, I think I can disregard the black ground wire? I say this because when checking on the voltage on the large pwr supply cap behind the meter, and placing the negative probe on the negative of the cap and the positive probe on the chassie, I get -694. So I suppose -691 on that black ground...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, Hope you were able to rest up a bit. No, the audio had gotten low after I figured what was causing the growl and taking off the solid grounded buss wire from pin 3. All I can describe is the radio's mic jack was loose and by placing a mic on and taking it off the connector a...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, The growling apparently was from having the radio's mic Jack wired wrong. I believe finally I may have it now wired correctly. I blew out a component on the echo board trying to square things away. The echo board is no longer installed. I have now connected the input...

I appreciate you replying back. I thought after what I had mentioned above, everyone abandoned me! I figure being truthful always got me through life so why stop now! Working on your steering and suspension as well as ball joints can be hard work for sure. I think my 79 Blazer had bolts...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, This morning I figure the out the wiring as far as the audio in and out. I simply took an ohm meter to the pin 2 (audio) of the mic jack and then probed around on the echo board connections until I had continuity. Then study how it was connected, along with the PTT in the same...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Unit_399, Sorry I had missed your post. Great idea about by-passing the eternal supply. If it had a 12 volt connection on the back I would had tried that because the thought did crossed my mind when Nomadradio first told me about checking voltages and mentioning the supply. But I will...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Hello Cable Guy, Everything seem okay until the finals blew. After replacing the finals, the mic jack was loose and a couple of connections broke. Apparently this was what really started all the conflict. And yes I would unplug the radio and then turn it on to drain any excess voltage from...

Galaxy Saturn growling noise from echo board

Oh my gosh. Seriously... I hate to admit something as bad as I am going to admit, but I have a large quantity of egg on my face. I am being totally serious, and I am deeply sorry for the time I am taking up here. After looking at the mic jack, and I mean after a few times, something kept...
