100 ohm dummy load

Minus the salt and water you are onto something, I use "Extra Virgin Olive Oil" in place of mineral oil. (for the 'in-a-pinch' type scenario)..

Still.. I ponder how the two resistors are soldered together!

that is roughly 104 Ohms (plus or minus 5 percent), & I ask why not parallel??
this way the transmitter "sees" a proper load (or close to the 50 Ohms your CB expects to see) and you will double the "wattage" handling capability using two in parallel instead of a single one of those 52 Ohm resistors.

The power would share. If you wanted, say, 50Ohms 2 Watt, and you had two 100 Ohm, 1 Watt, in parallel you'd get 50Ohm 2 W.

BUT if you had two 25 OHM 1W resistors in SERIES, you would ALSO have a 50 Ohm 2W resistor.

i may do some more testing on water tight enclosers see how they perform
I don't care if oxygen can reach the surface of your oil, and for all practical purposes that is irrelevant here, that load (in the 'current' incarnation) is not what you want... trust me.
Good on you for experimenting, keep it up; although keep in mind measurement is a key part of recording/sharing your observations/experiences. you need something close to 50 Ohms for what "we" do...

Ummmmm......(n) well as I see it two 51 ohm resistors in series make for a 102 ohm load and with the salt water it is lowering the impedance. I still cannot fathom why you would use water and oil. You would have been better of with a pair of 100 ohms resistors in parallel and just used oil.
