11 meter is very quiet?

My current Imax been up at least 23 yrs. She still pulls in the micro volts!
Dang! That's must be some kind of record right there. Good to hear. At least I know mine's not deaf. I will say one thing though, it has survived these E. TN mountain winds for the past 3 years, and we get some serious gusts up here. Got my fingers crossed, and knocking on wood. 73

Just made contact with Rick330man as he is anchored on Sawyer Key. His signal from his SSB walkie talkie was 5/9 into S.W. Atlanta-a distance of 641 miles according to Google maps!

David aka MS-481

In just over an hour, I made quite few contacts from my 19' boat using my little Cherokee AH100 SSB walkie talkie and my basic, antenna theory 101, 1/4 wave vertical dipole. Other contacts included 747 in No. central Texas, 132 in Fort Worth, Texas and 369, my first ever contact with Hawaii (about 4900 miles at just about identical latitude). I also had Sao Paolo, Brasil coming pretty strong for a while as he carried on his QSO with 132 in Fort Worth.

Great conditions today - especially due north, due south and due west. I hope more conditions like this become the norm.

Here in Ky getting my ears plugged by a drunken fool in south Fla going by 954 total idiot.

954 is the area code for Broward County, the Greater Fort Lauderdale metropolitan area. There is a guy in Broward County who uses 954. However, here in the Keys, I pick up a guy on LSB 38 using the same numbers but giving a Sanibel Island QTH. That's in southwest Florida about 120 miles due north of me and about the same distance due west of the other 954 sighting.

I don't know if the two are the same guy or even if either is the station you're speaking of, but I heard the 954 on Sanibel mention about a week ago that he was running 1200 watts. It then became clear why I could hear him 120 miles away but he couldn't hear my stock, barefoot rigs.
