11 meter is very quiet?

I made about 6 or 7 solid contacts to southern California this morning from just east of Houston. All on sideband except one on channel 28 AM to a guy in a Walmart parking lot in San Bernardino!!
This afternoon heading up towards Arkansas I heard a couple of Australian stations making numerous contacts to the good ole USA, however I was not able to make it to them myself.

Saturday evening though, back at home I did talk to a couple of the guys down under with my little sirio boomerang antenna and a few hundred watts.

Didn't try 11 meters today (day not over yet) o_O

Italy and Aquilla on 10 meters, 100 watts and wire dipole.

Listened to South Africa on 10m but could not make it back. I needed just one more watt. :(

I also heard through the Radio Gossip Line that forum member 2DE808 was spotted all over ClusterDX today (y)

Leaving out of Albuquerque NM toward Texas this morning and channel 19 skip was heavy along with the local trash talking. Must have just been the area because over the mountain and towards Texas the fire was extinguished and it became quiet again. The most skip since about May or June for my ears. I'll take it though, better than it's been on the high plains
