11 meter is very quiet?

Did you know we're both going to be without hydro on Sunday, September 14?
LOL! Hydro over here is the most unreliable thing ever! We have at least an outage a week, some of them multiple days long, especially in the winter.
I'm certain that we will have MANY more of them before that one!
They've spent millions on Cortes trying to clear trees and branches from the lines but it doesn't seem to make much difference.....it's just as unreliable as ever.

All good though, I have multiple generators, inverter and battery systems all over the place, and everything important on a UPS.

Way to go! Hope to hear you on there sometime! I monitor that frequency from time to time, along with 555 and a couple others.
All my Dosy meters tell me my lower channels are better than my upper channels but even 40 is like 1.2-1 so I never sweated the small stuff even though I plan on shortening the antenna because I would rather have the upper channels better than the lower ones if I can't get it perfect. But the SWR reading in the Q6Pro says the upper channels is border line unacceptable so thank God the weather has broke and soon is time for antenna work. But I often wonder ( How good is that SWR reading in the Q6Pro ) ?

Sean -

I feel your pain. When we first moved here in 2007, electricity to the farm went out if someone made a loud noise. Sometimes for hours, sometimes for days. Then, along came EPM who took over as our electric service provider. and we've enjoyed uninterrupted service for years. An occasional outage, but that's why we have generators. A fact of life when you live in the sticks. LOL.

Is that 26.555 FM ?
No. 555 refers to 27.555 USB which is the international 11 meter call channel. The most exotic DX always hangs around there and on the nearby '0' frequencies.

With the great conditions lately I am working on increasing my country total. I'm up to 83 now and would like to hit 100 before this cycle fizzles out in a few years!

I'll check that out. I might have that in my Cobra 2000 with extra channels.

Just went into the radio room and checked it out on the cobra 2000 and it was there in the freeband channels and it was busy.I left it there and will check it out tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up. Now all I have to do is adjust my antenna length and maybe I can get away from the normal busy channels !

Hey while we are at it what is this Muppets channels shown on my Freeband channel list, looking like they are used in the UK ? Are they used in the US very much to talk to our neighbors across the Pond ?

"Muppets" is the original UK 40 channel CB band. The government made the frequencies deliberately odd to prevent them from talking skip.

It didn't work.

Looks like spring has pulled everyone off the forum. Not even a single post since Monday. I'll be on the air around 11am today 37L and 44L. Give me a shout-out.
Hey JJ! It's been nearly a week now with almost no conditions at all here.
It's totally dead all day long, and then in the very late afternoon a little bit of Australia and Hawaii come in, but that's it these days!!
Seems we've had some major solar flares that are messing the band up.

As well, it is spring, the garden is crying for attention, there are a million jobs to do around the place, and I still have to work and make a living too......
The good news is that I at least got my deep well problems sorted and I have water again!
