11 meter is very quiet?

it worked,told storms go away n you got em. well sorta.i think we are getting water we lost years ago hung up in the sky. hope you loose the lectric storms so you can get back on the air
There is much I guess I will never understand about DX. Texas is a major player around here for DXing but when I first got back into radio it seemed like Florida was the major player for me with DX. I did move my Star Duster about 30' from where it first started and changed from a Workman Star Duster to a Sirio Star Duster. Could that possibly of made the difference ?

I don't recall you saying how tall your antenna is. Antennas work best when the base of the antenna is at least one full wavelength above ground. 36' for 11 meters. Also Stardusters need a 10 foot steel mast below the antenna to function properly. If your setup meets these requirements then you should be good to go.

None of my antenna steel antenna masts have been less than 20' of 1" black iron pipe painted because it is readily available. I wouldn't do 36' because it would require guy ropes or it would be bent and be a eye-sore. Just my personal preference so it is what it is and I'll work with what I have. I still wonder how a major player changes from Florida to Texas but not complaining !
Antennas do work a LOT better if they are above 36 foot to the base, as that is a wavelength at 11 meters......... The taller and uglier the antenna is, the better it works, generally speaking !
Lotsa DX out there again today. Just talked to the Carolinas, Kentucky, Tennessee and California in the last hour, all on 425 LSB. Go get 'em !!

Probably my issue as well I can't get into the 1st wavelength ... I dont have a proper rohn tower so I'm probably 24 foot to base of the Vquad and same on other side of house with Imax. Like @whiteastro said I'd be leaning all over the place asking for trouble.
My a99 is 36 feet up and the IMax is 24 feet up and I honestly can't tell the difference. Not that there isn’t a difference, just saying...

And as for 11 meters; I managed to get off work early and have been on 37 lsb, making contacts but it's very difficult!! All were up in the northeast.

I'm still at the office lol. No radio here least not 11m lol I wish I could viagra them but I can't. I'm maxed out of height that if they fall over I miss the power lines by a 5-6 foot margin.

To be honest my Star Duster is mounted to 25 foot of pipe even though another 5' doesn't make much difference. but there is other problems at my location with trees on other properties interfering with erecting more pipe. But the biggest problem for me is this stinking deep narrow valley I live in. If I was in the bottom of the valley I wouldn't even bother with radio but I'm about a quarter the way up so I have a slight chance. But my best shot is South & West and forget the North & East. My old neighbor use to be into radio but wondered why I bother. I guess I'm a stubborn Old Fart. LOL
Had a 20 minute window on 27.425 lsb last night and it was crazy. Made contact with forum member ShadowDelaware, that Lincoln was sounding good. Then I was getting shouts from all directions. Delaware, Australia, Florida, West Virginia, Nova Scotia, Ohio, and all at the same time. Pretty wild.
yes it seemed strange to not here the usual bucket mouths on my way home from work this evening. NE Arkansas, is hearing crickets also.
