There is much I guess I will never understand about DX. Texas is a major player around here for DXing but when I first got back into radio it seemed like Florida was the major player for me with DX. I did move my Star Duster about 30' from where it first started and changed from a Workman Star Duster to a Sirio Star Duster. Could that possibly of made the difference ?It's been awfully quiet in my part of the state. I also know that @Eldorado828 hasn't had much luck up in his part of Texas.
I did hear a few stations today but I didn't have time to give 'em a try.

None of my antenna steel antenna masts have been less than 20' of 1" black iron pipe painted because it is readily available. I wouldn't do 36' because it would require guy ropes or it would be bent and be a eye-sore. Just my personal preference so it is what it is and I'll work with what I have. I still wonder how a major player changes from Florida to Texas but not complaining !Whiteastro -
I don't recall you saying how tall your antenna is. Antennas work best when the base of the antenna is at least one full wavelength above ground. 36' for 11 meters. Also Stardusters need a 10 foot steel mast below the antenna to function properly. If your setup meets these requirements then you should be good to go.

Antennas do work a LOT better if they are above 36 foot to the base, as that is a wavelength at 11 meters......... The taller and uglier the antenna is, the better it works, generally speaking !I wouldn't do 36'
yes it seemed strange to not here the usual bucket mouths on my way home from work this evening. NE Arkansas, is hearing crickets also.Nothing but static today. I made my way from Midland, TX to just west of Austin, TX. I heard nada. Even the bowl was all crickets.
At least I got to enjoy some good tunes on my boring drive today.
