Well you guys just made my weekend!
thank you so much for the flowers Walter.
I wasn't on the forum much at all this weekend because of family obligations, and i wish i could say it was a BBQ LOL.
(apologies to you guys in the colder climates, it's great BBQ weather here in the SW)
It means a lot to me to hear that people are happy with work i did for them.
yes, i charge for my time, but really that's just to buy more radio junk and keep the wife off my back about disappearing into the shop for hours at a time. (that sounded harsh. she's the greatest wife a radio nut could hope for)
I really do love to work on radios, but not just for me. i get more satisfaction from restoring something that someone else will enjoy rather than adding to my shelf collection.
This hobby has given me so much over the years, and i feel like this is my way of keeping it going.
This forum in particular feels like my online home and that's why i tend to do work mainly for members here.
I would like to extend my thanks to those who run this place!
Walter's radio was the first i ever saw get to 200% positive peaks using Exit13's PPE mod.
He gets ALL the credit there, i just copied what he did LOL.
the secret is that Walter runs his deadkey at 1 watt which really allows the radio to swing up, also Walters radio just responded very well to the mod and is honestly the highest modulating radio i've put this mod in.
when the deadkey gets set to 2 watts, they do about 140-150% positive.
Here is a sneak preview of a thread i'll be starting once i get finished with this chrome dome for a member:
