And another one ....

Is the only change from the old 4600 the name and probably the finals? The picture on bell's is of the radio is a 4600. The box pic is of the 46N1

I paid $635 for an FT 857D a couple years ago with the remote mount kit. Sure it's not an AM monster, but it sure as hell is worth a lot more than that monstrosity of a radio.

Why guys keep buying export radios with amps built into them I will never understand. You have MUCH more flexibility with an external amp and a 35-50 watt radio.

I'm amazed they still market stuff like this. I get that it is labeled a 10 meter radio only to make it legal to sell, but I like my export radios to be realistically capable of 10 Meter operation. This doesn't even reach into the AM, let alone FM, subband.
Even my $60 Anytone Smart covers the frequencies I need for AM and FM on 10. Sounds good RX and TX too, and if I want more power I'll get a KL203 or something.

This combo is about power, right? $470.00

Galaxy AM/SSB 959 = $199.
200W RM Italy KL-7405 $175
Total = $375

Where’s the other $100 in value?

Over the past few years my cost of a 979 + 7405 = $300, new.

Or, could get a combo that’s physically small: a 979 + KL-203 at $250 more or less.

I'll guarantee half the tools that buy this don't know a thing about antenna systems and proper installation! What a waste......

Pshhh, such an ignorant and asinine comment.
Anyway, i think the cb radio industry is completely lost, they dont know what to do to make sales so they are just grasping at straws and trying anything, hoping they get lucky and make the jewel. All they are making is crap. And we all know the fix, listen to your customers! Stupid cb manufacturers dont even follow rule number one of business. Look at cobra, wtf? Bluetooth, smartphone cb's etc, lol, how about a good old fashioned am/ssb radio? Hmmm you think? Thats what will sell and keep you afloat. Everything nowadays is am/fm export high power talkback echo with fancy colorful lights, enough!

As to the first sentence in your post...........you're entitled to your opinion, but I stand by it! Look at some other Facebook pages and forums regarding export radios like Stryker, etc. So many folks, not all, plug these into their sub-standard or stock antenna and wonder why their $400+ radio only gets out a couple of miles or worse! I guess a fool and his money.........
I do wholeheartedly agree with the rest of your post.

This is the way to go, I believe, right now. More bang for your buck! Substitute a KLV-203 and you will get performance that will rival most exports with out the power hook up issues!
JMHO
