Any FCC busts for DXing?

I do not know if this is true....but other cbers have told me the fcc fuzz drive white suv's with a glass dome on top.....I seen that vehicle once but thought it was google earth and waved like a hick with a big grin. :D

Was listening to 3960.0lsb the other day, they where talking about a van with Ill plates driving around abour 9pm on his street,a dead end street. And the ham operator went out to ask why he was on his street, after dark and he said im looking for so-and-so.He told him you just found him.He told the Fcc guy he was woundering why a van with out of state plate was on his street after dark.So they are out there...73 de JW:tt1:

great description just like the white econoline van roaming around central ill. with the two dark blue dodge caravans sporting the multiple antenna arrays in unison , as they've been seen in my area several times during the last 14 months , usually after great amounts of hi wattage displays of stupidity on the 11meter band

Being made to drive around IL in a mini van looking for illegal CB'er has to be some form of punishment for FCC agents.

Are you kidding? Maybe on SSB you might get lucky once in a while without a "crazy" amp, but most of the time it just don't happen.

Actually he is correct somewhat. I've personally talked skip on nothing but a 40 channel AM only (no sideband) CB radio. In fact I've done this more than once. A freind of mine has also done it on a Cobra 29 stock 4 watts. It's certainly doable. But on the other hand, I can see where if a bunch of boneheads on 38 LSB were running heat, and you were barefoot, it might make for a bit of a complication.

I talk skip on a barefoot radio all the time....trick is to catch the conditions before it gets too crowded with guys running power....and it helps to have a beam set on horizontal.:thumbup1:

I heard those were obsolete and don't filter freqs. that modern equipment would recieve as bleedover.

A local op a mile away, 2547 & Palomar 2 x 2879 just put one in line and with the amp on he dropped from S-9+10 to S-1 on 54MHz.

I just talk to locals

on 11mtrs am/ssb...I talk dx on 10ssb,and qrp most of the time...i have w.a.c. and w.a.s on 10 mtrs and close to dxcc on 10 ssb...I ran 11 mtrs from 1967 to 192 all the time, and ran ssb 90% of the time...never ran a amp,and stayed on 38lsb,and did have one,but never ran it,hehe...sold them in my shop back then, and tested them when i got them in...run a siltronix 1011d on 10 ssb,hehe...its outputs is only about 20wts,will replace the tube one of theses days, have 6 others, but this one is my best of the group, its a rare one,it has a transistorized bfo...i have two of them, its has a m after the serial number...73 de n0zna/John

A guy I talk to daily got flagged down today because he had a cb antenna....had him key down and used a instrument of some kind to measure the power output of his cb.....they are definitely trying to bust folks around here.
