Anybody use switching power supplies?

****************Updated 13.8V 100A PS recommendation***************

Get a HSTNS-PD11; 438202-002; 440785-001; 441830-001; DPS-1200FB A

If you want a turnkey solution with on/off switch and voltage meter, then get one of these: https://www.parallelminer.com/produ...pter-compatible-with-hp-1200-watt-dps-1200fb/

If you want to manually control it, put a 22K resistor between 36 & 37 and an on/off switch between 33 & 30 (jumper the two if you are going to control the AC power). If you want to add an amp meter use pin 34 - 60.15mv/amp.

Then watch this video for the Voltage adj. and OVP adj. mods:

For voltage adjust, turn pot CCW to increase voltage. If you need a higher OVP than 14.2v, use a lower value resistor. For example, a 82K resistor = OVP @ 14.45v.

I just wanted to confirm that the breakout board will work with this:

https://www.enterasource.com/hp-438203-001-1200w-common-slot-silver-hot-plug-ac-power-supply

It isn't listed exactly, but will work on a similar model. I want to buy four of these and just want to make double sure that I am getting the right stuff.
Thanks
Chris

4 would be nice but 6 gives me good redundancy in case of a failure of one or more units. Id like my supply bank to show me if a unit fails and what unit(s) failed.
Who is the supply building wizard?

Id like to string 4 of the 2400 watt units in parallel. I believe that would be with 240 ac input 640 amps at 15 volts output. That's what I want.
The more i cruise this site the more i like it lol.
Are you making a welder? My 750a stick welder really runs the electric bill up when I get on a big project. I have it on a 50a breaker using a clothes dryer receptacle to plug in to.

Man I've been there. A friend runs an electrical company and they've been slow because of the China Virus pandemic. I paid one of his guys to install a sub panel in the garage. I feel like a king being able to weld and dry clothes at the same time.

Im tired of upgrading and winding up with a pile of supplys. I have 4 now lol. If i can build one supply that will do whatever i need and then some for a fraction of a shop built smaller unit im all about it. I can get what i need to make 600 amps for around $700 it looks like. I just need to find out if the voltage is adjustable on those units and if they can be ran in parallel.
My station is within a foot of the power panel in the shack so power access won't be a problem. This property is zoned agricultural so if i need more power i can have the power company install a 40 amp service just for the shack without a permit. 20200927_220421.jpg

I used to use my dryer circuit for my shop (including welder). Then I replaced my electric range with a gas range that uses battery ignition and doesn't even have an electrical connection, which freed up a 40 amp circuit.

So i had a nice convo with joseph from parallel miner. He tells me yes the 2400 watt servers can be ran parallel but he didnt know how many can be strung together. Im believing the magic number is 4 like most others. The voltage can be increased and the over voltage protection mod is the same also, just a resistor change.
These supplys are designed to run at 95% 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for years and barely break 90°f at 95% duty. He said the fans are very loud but only come on IF the unit is ran above 94% for a specified amount of time so the way we use them the fan would probably never come on if we were smart about the size of supplys and how many we use in parallel. Bigger or over size seems to be better here.
Im going to order 4 2400 watt Delta supplys with the breakout boards. My hang up is going to be finding the voltage adjustment and the over voltage protection resistor so i can turn the voltage up to 14.5-15. I cant find much info on these online. I do know this model was for powering Apple servers.

Or whats to stop me from running 2 of these 4800 watt banks in parallel? Run each bank separately and run both outputs to the same buss bar? As long as the voltage is balanced it should be an issue i dont think.
