Anytone 6666

I really enjoyed your vids, Dave. Thank you. One question, and please forgive me if I missed it in the vids, does the clarifier vary both transmit and receive frequency?

I would imagine if its based off the past anytone / maxlog / lincoln2 / stryker radios, you will be able to choose clarifier functions in the menu.

The one thing that puts me off these compared to the Lincolns is they've got that type of really really cheap crappy plastic for the front panel and knobs you get with the worst of the cheap chinese stuff that seems to emphasise the cheapness even more. I can't touch it, it feels that bad.

Very cool. I didn't know the new menu-driven radios were capable of doing that. Maybe it's time for me to upgrade from my old (but trusty!) Galaxy DX77HML.

I wish this and other new radios would have more memory channels, though. Tighter receive selectivity in SSB, too.

Hello , I see my first review video has been posted on WWRF
I have done some further On Air tests.

One with some Semi-local stations and one in the big contest running this weekend (What a shed load of signals).
If anything was ever going to test a receiver this is it!

i thought recieve was very easy to listen to . and the channel knob [vfo] was nice sized
interesting radio to me. course everyone has thier own opinions

Yes looks promising ,would like to see a few more reports before buying one though. Like the 90 watts + he is getting out ? Prefer the looks of the 5555n even it is only rated at 30 watts ( thats enough drive) Wonder if the ctcss is standard or an option on the production model.

Looks like Yeticom have them in stock now and the AT-5555n coming soon.Dave if your reading this how about a few comments on the new anytones.

They are available ex NZ but my stock has not arrived yet. Seem to work similarly to the lincoln 2 from what I can determine. 4 transistors in the final..pre driver, driver and a dual final stage. plenty of power. Might be a bit small and fiddly for my tastes but at least you can turn off the channel readout and keep it in frequency mode unlike the Lincoln 2

Been testing the AT-6666 for about a week now.

Here's a video of on-air transmit audio - Anytone AT 6666 Transmit On Air Test - YouTube

Radio is pretty easy to operate, has fairly good audio for a stock radio, puts out around 60 watts, and has good receive sensitivity.

Only problems are -

1) echo doesn't have adjustments and doesn't seem to work properly
2) receive volume is low - on a 36 level scale I find I have to listen at 20-22 in the mobile.

Other than that I've been enjoying the radio quite a bit. It's very small, smaller than the Magnum 257 or CRE 8900 and is in-dash mountable. Controls and face feel a little cheap especially compared to the Lincoln II but they all seem to work fine so far.

Well....

This radio has been anticipated for a VERY long time. You'd think they would have worked out the bugs already. To me, if they left out the echo, beeps and fix the volume issue, we may have something interesting. Wishful thinking, I know.

But NO, we seem to have yet another big ass TURD that needs to have revisions on issues that should have been addressed earlier.

For the life of me, why can't they come out with something original (that works) instead of differing ideations of the same old shit. Why would they even let this radio be reviewed by a respected member of our hobby? Come on guys, WTF? At least send a 99% operational unit. Geeeesh!

I really do like exports, but the latest stuff is just plain crap. Anytone, Maxlog, CRE and the various clones thereof, are just plain crap.

This radio is a TURD.

Itching to buy something new? Buy a HAM rig or an Optima MKIII.

I will say honestly it sounds pretty good for using a stock mic I wanted one of thes but hearing that its smaller than the Magnum 257 heap of glorified CB thats a turn off. They get smaller and smaller pretty soon they will all be handhelds if the B.S. doesnt stop LMA:lol:!!!!

In terms of size it's small but the controls are similar to a 2 meter mobile so very user friendly. Honestly the controls are easier to use on this radio than many full size radios.

If they can boost the volume and it doesn't have any issues long term I think it would be a fun radio to own, especially for tight installs. Still have more testing to do to see if anything else pops up.

Also have the President Lincoln V3 right now and the Maxlog M8800 V8 for testing.

President Lincoln II V3 seems to have all the bugs worked out and at this point I'd say consumers should feel comfortable buying it.

Maxlog M8800 is actually a bit of a surprise. Receive on this radio sounds very nice. 45-50 watts out of the box. Good swing. Was right on frequency out of the box. I'm not big on the looks but functionally it's working great with no issues.

I should have some videos and written reviews going in a week or so.

Whats the price on the new Anytone and where can the later runs or versions be purchased? As funny as it is I was actually thinking about the smaller size comment I made and it is silly in a way because I to compared to my small 2 Meter radios and thought I dont mind those rigs so whats the difference aslong as its built good and reliable ;)
