Anytone 6666

If Icom came out with an Export rig and modeled it after the D-Star ID-880H the CB world would explode. and what the hell AM,FM,SSB, And digital. give it a new brand name like the Worldwide DX-007 and unload it into the USA and Europe, It would sell more than the Cobra 29 did over the last ? many years.
399.00 every truck and mobil operator in the country would have one. Base operators to. and the FCC :tongue_smilie::tongue_smilie::tongue_smilie: wouldn't know what happened.

The 666 looks good but too many bugs to make it a real radio.

My sample worked decent as the transmit and receiver were off till I locked the TR, now working very good and audio reports from South America were good with S8 to S9. Echo is not very nice.
I've heard that most of this has been fixed on the latest series and these may be the production run. Also Anytone has a new AT-5555N, quite different than the old AT-5555.

73 poikaa

Both work very well and have much the same functions like the chassis might be the same option wise.

Does anyone know the key sequence to unlock the AT-6666 to expand beyond 28.0-29.7 MHz? I just got one unit as a sample and want to take it through its paces on the bench.

Whats the price on the new Anytone and where can the later runs or versions be purchased? As funny as it is I was actually thinking about the smaller size comment I made and it is silly in a way because I to compared to my small 2 Meter radios and thought I dont mind those rigs so whats the difference aslong as its built good and reliable ;)

Tony V I have one left was taken out of box, checked for damage, did the 11 meter mod. 250 to your door 48 states. Also installed the regular 3 pin power plug, they come from the factory with just wires with nothing on them. If your interested email me tucker4422@verizon.net

Got my AT-6666 a few days ago direct from manufacturer. Had it on the bench. Not a bad radio. I dont really like the clicky channel knob, would have preferred a regular VFO knob to jump around the band, but, this rig is loaded with features. The hand mic is cheap but I plan to install an astatic D104M6 and give that a go. I've got an AT-5555 also, so can do some side by side comparisons. Also I've not tried the AT-5555N.... may go for one of those just to try it out. More to follow....

Been using the 6666 since late October 2014. using an Audio technica pro8he headset being driven with an ART tube preamp, Yamaha gc2020 compressor limiter and Alesis Meq 230(I'm a musician and have the stuff sitting around). BBC quality audio reports and runs like a champ. Very nice sounding radio even with the stock mic. Puts out more power than rated.

2 things I don't like: 1. the buttons are hard to push. 2. the coax connection on the back is tight to get your fingers into to tighten because of the heatsink. I have installed 2 40mm micro fans in the case to keep it cool. Most all of the qso's I have are long winded sometime over 1 hour in length and tends to get a little warm. From OCT25 to Nov 27'th logged 334 new contacts into EU with many repeats. All high quality qso's with spankin' reports. Currently over 700 logged including static mobile dx with this radio. It works!

That's it. Love it!

My AT-6666 did not come with programming software. Seems to be a standard USB cable, but, does anyone know if there is a web site to download the software? I'd like to give it a try just to see how it works.

The small size is really great. can be mounted much more conveniently - reminds me of the 1980's era Cobra 146gtl - President AR-144 type SSB chassis size wise. Of course, it does a WHOLE lot more. Roger beeps and Ctcss and repeater shift and dual channel watch and and and... it's definitely loaded with features.

I've been looking too. Seems to be a lot of references on the net about the programming software but not one place that I can find to download it.
