Anytone at-5555 PLUS

Before starting you must have the radio hooked to a dummy load or antenna. Also get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP even if you don't plan on changing anything. Scroll through each menu item and view the data and WRITE IT DOWN!!! Make a spread sheet of the menu item and parameters.

Service menu is accessed by starting with the radio in the off state, press and hold function key and continue to hold while powering on the radio, continue to hold the function key then press the other keys on the top row one at a time and in order then release function key.

Menu items are scrolled with the channel selector. You can view the data of selected menu item by keying the mic. You change data by keying the mic and using the channel selector. Once things are set how you want power cycle the radio.

FM high power is menu 8

FM low power is menu 9

FM modulation is menu 11

AM high power is menu 15

AM low power is menu 16

AM low power modulation is menu 18

AM high power modulation is menu 19

SSB high power limiter is menu 21

SSB low power limiter is menu 22

SSB low power is menu 25

SSB high power is menu 26

Those are the main ones that most ppl can set themselves.

On the AM modulation adjustments smaller values equals more modulation(Less AMC clamping).

Like I said before WRITE EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER DOWN, ALL 53 OF THEM!!!

Don't break you radios! I'm not liable! These are alignment settings, resting the radio will have no effect on these!

Any idea which service menu setting controls the NR function. It could do with being reduced.

My radio doesn't have the NRC board installed. When I bought mine I could only find the one without NRC.
Mine does have menu 31 and 32 which appear to do nothing in my radio.
It looks like they are supposed to be receive band pass and transmit band pass. Just write down the parameters and set them to one extreme then the other to see what they do then adjust accordingly. If you watch the screen it displays what mode each menu channel is in. It will turn on or off what ever features are being adjusted automatically. I would assume if a menu that has to deal with NR is selected it will automatically enable NR. That is what I would look for in order to deduce the functions.
Good luck and as always WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!

I've also came up with a NPC mod for this rig as well. I will post a pic if I can figure out how.
This was just a preliminary test photo to show location of the mod. The final mod on my radio used, I think, a 560 ohm resistor in series with the diode to limit the amount of negative peak compression. A one K ohm variable could be incorporated and be adjusted for proper wave form for a given carrier for optimal performance over a wide range. If only a diode is used the negative peaks will not make it to zero and badly distorts and flattens the negative wave form.
This isn't a huge swinging mod but it does wake up the radio and give a cleaner sound if the radio is adjusted properly in the service menus.
Hope this helps, these are great sounding rigs when set up properly!
Panic Attack Got Down! ;)

I was wrong about menu 31 and 32. It was late and I think I turned it off and on too fast or something. 31 and 32 definitely control RX and TX passband.

Howdy folks,

I have the Anytone AT-5555 Plus v7 and I get this error when trying to read the radio for the first time. Any ideas what the deal is?

Windows 10 21H2
Prolific USB-Serial PL2303 adapter
AnyTone AT-5555 v7 software

Thanks!

Oh no, the dreaded run time error message... Seems the Stryker isn't alone. Check out the Stryker thread for the fix to the common issue. The fix wouldn't be the same but you need the correct file for your Anytone radio.

AnyTone AT-5555 Plus V7 Service Menu Settings:

I started the service menu adjustments. I wrote down the first 19 items and adjusted only the 4 items mentioned above to get this radio swinging and modulating on AM. All other items are factory and not touched. I listed the factory setting and the setting I changed it to on those 4 items. Everything looks good on my testing equipment. I will report what kind of audio reports I get tonight locally. I will write down and then type into Excel the rest of the settings when I have time.

Thank you BlueBeam for the information.

Anytone AT-5555 Plus V7 opens up pretty good on the power and modulation. On AM, I can dead key .5 watts and swing to 4 on the low end and around 17 swinging to 37 watts on a DOSY meter. Modulation is now pegging the meter when I want to. On SSB I'm getting 1.5 watts on the low end of the power knob and 40 on the high end. Modulation is crystal clear with a D-104 desk mic piped through a Yamaha MG06X mixing board then into the radio. I've started writing down the 50 some odd service menu items and I also have the several adjustments I've made so far to get these numbers. I'm taking my time here and I'm up to number 30. So far the cover hasn't needed to be removed. And so far she stays cool. This is running at 14.5v. 16v is the MAX on this radio but I wouldn't push it that far. I feel like I'm now on a mission. Thank you guys!

That's good to know, I wouldn't have ever thought that.

So you're saying we need to wait for the PLUS N?

Damn why do they have to make it confusing. Now we have a plus, a plus N, and a whole difference radio which is the 5555N II.....
They already make a 5555 N so yes, I guess it would have to be an N II

No sir, referring the the 5555 plus/N that is slightly different from the 5555 plus. The 5555N2 is a whole other radio and is why I had commented on why they have to use such similar numbering. It can get confusing to those who don't really know.

People would already get confused when there was only a 5555 and 5555N.
