Thanks for posting this information I was able to peak and tune my new radio I was able to lower the am dead key and turned up the Am low power modulation and it now drives the Texas star dx500 I have pretty darn good I get good audio reports on a.m. when running amplifier or just or just the radio by itself only SSB adjustments I made was I turned up the radio SSB high power so when I talk on SSB without the amplifier then I turn the radios RF power knob up 73's and God bless from 112 Southern IllinoisBefore starting you must have the radio hooked to a dummy load or antenna. Also get a pen and paper and WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING!!! DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP even if you don't plan on changing anything. Scroll through each menu item and view the data and WRITE IT DOWN!!! Make a spread sheet of the menu item and parameters.
Service menu is accessed by starting with the radio in the off state, press and hold function key and continue to hold while powering on the radio, continue to hold the function key then press the other keys on the top row one at a time and in order then release function key.
Menu items are scrolled with the channel selector. You can view the data of selected menu item by keying the mic. You change data by keying the mic and using the channel selector. Once things are set how you want power cycle the radio.

Those are the main ones that most ppl can set themselves.
On the AM modulation adjustments smaller values equals more modulation(Less AMC clamping).
Like I said before WRITE EVERY SINGLE PARAMETER DOWN, ALL 53 OF THEM!!!
Don't break you radios! I'm not liable! These are alignment settings, resting the radio will have no effect on these!

Damn good radios better than the Lincoln 2 plus and cheaper and does more stuff like the Lincoln 2 plus only has six digits on the frequency display and this radio has seven digits that makes it easier to fine tune someone in on SSB
My clarifier does not mute at all when I'm turning it eitherThe clicky clarifier kinda sorta gives me peace of mind knowibg my clarifier is locked in to whatever freq im operating although my clarifier does not mute at all while turning
Oh okay"Damn good radios better than the Lincoln 2 plus and cheaper and does more stuff like the Lincoln 2 plus only has six digits on the frequency display and this radio has seven digits that makes it easier to fine tune someone in on SSB"
For the record, I didn't post that originally. Not sure who did or in what thread, but it wasn't me. I don't mind being quoted, as long as it's something I actually posted.

I only adjusted power and modulation is this Matt?Your welcome
By the way some menu items require specialized test equipment and procedures to adjust and if the parameters are changed without the proper test setup you can't just put them back. I recommend only adjusting the modulation and power menu items. Great job.

Yep. I just realized who you were as well. Thanks for the information on the radio this Texas Star dx500 I have I think is one you used to own because it has the name Copperhead scratched into the inside of it from 2007 did you scratch your old CB handle into a Texas Star DX 500 on the inside of it? They might have been another Copperhead out there somewhere
It's not that the MAX Mod is snake oil. Putting a beefier regulator in is old school upgrade. The part that is kind of misleading is how it is marketed.Exactly. I've posted about the max mod a few times.
