Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Got it hooked up today. Conversion was super easy. Did have to use tweezers to move the jumper from 1 and 2 to 2 and 3.

The receive noise reduction absolutely works. I finally settled on setting 3 because at setting 5 the voices did not sound natural. At setting 3 it still works good. It even knocks down annoying solar panel noise.

Does anybody know what noise reduction on transmit actually does? It's default off, so I did not change it.

Channel rejection is pretty dang good in my opinion compared to a Stryker 447HPC2 and a Lincoln V2. Redeye Crow lives about six miles away from me, and he was on the bowl pegging me at 60 db. He was not bothering me at all on my home channel 31.
I too think that #3 for the noise reduction on RX is the sweet spot, also have not messed with the TX noise reduction. Just curious if you got your hands on the software for the v2? Anytone website just has the at-5555N listed not version 2? Have fun with your new radio this one is a keeper!

No did not mess with the software yet because I don't have the proper USB cable.

I did go the Anytone website, and looked under downloads for the software. Saw various versions for the 5555, but none specifically for the N2 version. Maybe I overlooked it....

Well this radio sure looks to be shining bright so the decision is made and going to get one!

Everyone contributing to this thread is appreciated very much by me and a great source of reviews for others interested in this radio.

If anytone keeps pumping out this grade of export radios they're doing something right.

Like @undertaker my ranger made radio days are no more.

Ok thanks bud
This is new software ///QPS5555N_II_2.01/// online they have V2.0 which is not working very well. I got it from Anytone support dept. I had to email them in China to get good version. Works fine on my Anytone AT-5555 II. I run it in windows 10. Try to unzip it and install it. If you see some windows error showing up on the screen while insytalling just press ok. Then run it and see if it will open. If it does, then only what you gonna need is cable.

Thank you for sharing, I tried v2.0 they have on website and could not get it to work and in was in Chinese.

that is strange, are you doing quick one time menu press and then mode button?.
The manual states to push those 2 buttons at the same time but that doesn't work, but you're spot on and gets 7 WX channels/frequencys for weather!

Appriciate the correct info regarding this weather addition to this nice radio!

73's, Retro

Yup the manual is wrong. Quick menu press, and then quick mode press pulled up all seven weather channels for me too. Had 60 dB on six channels. No signal on one of the channels.

I was listening to one of the channels, and they are doing a weather alert test today, so I am going to turn on the weather alert function in the menu, and see if it works right.

Can anybody hear what roger beep #2 sounds like? I hear roger beep 1, 3, 4, and 5, but not number 2. I know option #2 is working because I see my power meter increase in power when I unkey.

Just curious what does the software do?
Its basically tuning under the hood so to speak, you can customize your freq along with many more things very easy to use, just need a data cable for your radio download software and install on windows pc
LET ME KNOW IF YOU WERE ABLE TO UNPACK IT AND RUN IT.
Yes unpacked just fine in windows 7 and opens up but cannot read from radio..says cannot read com port....no I am using an AT-6666 cable? mabey thats the problem.

I've got another question folks. I've went through the menus and I still have a certain amount of reverb sound when I listen to my Anytone 5555n v2 which puzzles me.

So anyone experiencing this? Or is this just a factor of this new version along with the DSP technology or what?

Appriciate any input with hands on with this radio 73's, Retro

No I am not hearing any reverb sound. But I am using headphones hooked up to the PA jack. With the receive noise reduction on, it does sound funny switching channels, or after I quit transmitting. It's like a second or so delay before the noise reduction kicks in.

When I turn on the talk back, my voice sounds like it's been through a mixer, and sounds to me synthesized.
