AT-6666 PRO Update! Firmware + PC Alignment tool + PC Software

Hi all,

A new version of the PC Alignment tool V1.03 will be available for download on the AnyTone website soon. The updates are:

1 - UL SQ "8" updated to "9"

2 - Compatibility with CH34x USB programming cable drivers has been improved.

awesome

Thanks for confirming,

Don't think a firmware update can add all those new features.

Seems to be an ever evolving radio model. Not a bad thing, just will encourage more sales for those wanting the newer features.
It would be a super cool radio with endless vehicle mounting possibilities just to start.

But for me, I'm content with the pro for the time being. I need to work on the firmware update next to enjoy those upgrades. Not enough time in a day...

@Pez - what is the chance that QX will come out with a Q5NPro?
All the features of the Q6Pro (& more) in the Q5 chassis.

I like the larger/better display (triple meters; S meter more granular & +60dB; physically larger, easier to read; 7 digit freq display, etc.) and the better heatsink - maybe tapped (ala Washington) to facilitate fan attachment. External fan connection with menu adjustable settings for a custom, thermally tracked, fan curve.

A "Q5NPro" is something that has been kicked around for the future, with things like 15m band, fans, higher power, updated LCD, backlit buttons, etc... But it is not on the near roadmap at this point. That's not to say it won't ever happen, but it is down the list because the Nii "short case" just had it's update.

The new Nii short case update is actually pretty substantial under the hood, it shares a lot with the AT-6666Pro already. The differences when operating the old Nii vs the new Nii "short case" are massive especially if you are using it in VFO mode. (FYI- A new firmware is incoming for the AT-5555Nii short case, soon... The main items in the upcoming update are a significant Memory mode change, CW updates, and a new PUBLIC settings menu on the radio. Some of these things come from the AT-6666Pro).

FWIW, I would love to see a "Q5NPro" happen when the radio gets its next makeover... I have always really liked the ergonomics of the 5555Nii. The more HAM focused design ticks a lot of boxes for the PRO market, but still works well for the CB markets too.
