Are there any sources for these? I know, odd question, but when my garage door and my 102" met last night, the door pulled that ball off, now I cannot tie it down for low clearance places (my garage!)..

1). Antenna Parts Outlet. Will custom drill.

2). See also www.k0bg.com on “Controlling Static”

3). Nicest was the 102” piece from now defunct GUNNY PUCKS

A leisurely search one afternoon waiting to unload revealed the ultimate: perform a blinding shine and clear-coat to a fully-copper toilet bowl float. Talkin’ shit the will never be the same again.

Actually, go to www.boilersupplies.com

Copper round floats starting at 3.5” diameter.

Although somewhat expensive IMO, you can buy one of these. These are nothing more than whip couplers with the stud rounded off. If you have any of those couplers salvaged from other antennas, you can also make your own.

Similar to the GP model I mentioned.

Thx

Ordered two for the pair of 102” whips collecting dust at home. Eventually the pair of mirror mounts strong enough for them on this 579 Peterbilt.

I would just replace the antenna. Replacement ball will not hold up and form a corrosion between the antenna ball.
It is more than just a way to tie down the antenna. It is used to discharge the "Corona" effect.

I had to ask the seller what size those balls are, they're 5/8" OD.....

Man, I'd really hate to have to buy another antenna, $45+ a piece plus shipping...

You can find them much cheaper. $20~$25 for a 102" SS Whip, the HD Hustler spring can be found for around $37. Don't buy those cheaper ones they corrode around the braid and break.

I got several for $20 piece. Got tired of trying to straighten after hitting low power/ cable lines and overhanging trees.

Where do you folks find them for so cheap? Everywhere I look, they're $40-$45+ and then add shipping... If I found them for $20, I'd probably buy 2 to make the shipping worth it. The last one I bought on Amazon came in a PVC tube with caps on the end, so 2 would fit in it easily.

This could work also:rs.jpeg.jpg

So a rod tip would work too... Never thought of something like that. It wouldn't throw anything off?

And thanks for the link, I'll be checking that out!

OK... 24.99 + $30 shipping, 9.99 handling = $69.33 total.. I can get them from Amazon for under $45 shipped.

BUUUUTTTT...... DX Engineering location, free pickup..

Address: 1200 Southeast Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278

They are inside Summit Racing Equipment, about 45 minutes from me....... If I had only known that last month when I made 3 trips there for parts for my Jeep!!! Looks like another trip coming up here soon!

Thanks!
