They have policies concerning 'our interests abroad'; yes. But that has never stopped the Soviets from that goal either. Iran is a key example of that.
Spreading democracy after the Soviets had infiltrated is just tit for tat. We have nothing to be ashamed about concerning that point. Of course, the commies have no shame.
No accounting for the basis of their morality - or the lack thereof - in anything they have done; is there? They have proved amoral behavior consistently.
I have only scratched the surface of the failed mindset and actions of the Soviets. If necessary, I can go on and on. Sure the US has made many mistakes. But not with the effort and purpose that the Soviets made theirs.
Sure, all empires can fall.
