Be on the lookout for a new RANGER EXPORT

Seconded. I'd love to buy a separation kit for the n2 as i can only mount it in the glove compartment and that keeps hitting the passengers knees.
2 hundred watts is enough for me as i dont want a burned out alternator

I like the radio, but I like the new mobile with the 123 board more. Think 8 track cartidge size for those with little spare room for a radio in their vehicle. No engine noise from my Ford Ranger, either.

seems a hell of a price for an export multimode.

touchscreen? whats that about, sell someone a new radio with a touchscreen they are scared to touch incase they mark it, pointless.

i can't help wondering how much of that 500 dollars or so has been used to tighten up the frequency stability or lack of it, that these type radios are notorious for.

seems to me rci are still intent on heading down the gimmick path instead of making radios that are a pleasure to operate on which is what most hardcore,(ie cb'ers who spend money) actually want. gimmicks might sell well at first, but as soon as people realise the boards are no better than previous ones then i fear those sales will come to a halt.

come on rci, get the finger out, an export with stable SSB and a built in processor is what we need,(preferrably reasonably priced too, incase of getting busted) not more gimmicky shite.

I persoanlly would like to see a 10-160 rci that is still capable of the high level AM Audio.
Even if it looked just like the RCI 2950/70 Id still probably buy one.

Looking at the price tag on their 10/12 meter radios I would hate to see the price of a full HF radio.

A few more pictures......
Look at board inside no surprise there, USB port on front.
Retail: Approx $520

I like those 450D models I have a FT-450 I bought 3 years ago and really like the rig alot and its been trouble free I like the lighted face on the D model I havent priced them even but am wondering if its any better than my 450 I have now or if it wouldnt be worth it or really make any sense.

Im thinking about just adding a bit more money and trying a FT-950 instead. (y)

The only diffrence is the 450d has dsp...and a fantastic tuner.I can tune my a99 from 6 to 20mtrs.And also my 80 mtr dipole from 6 to 160...Its great.I run my rci2980wx on 10 am/ssb only...73s de n0zna/John Late note,i like my 450d better than my ts520 or tentec corsair2 better on recieve...73s

( on Edit, Please see update on the Next page....the saga continues......)

I called around a bit this morning, because I was questioning the "touch screen display" feature of this new radio.
it is NOT a touch screen, it is a Thin film transistor liquid crystal display.
You still have to push the corresponding button on the side of the display, and it simply light`s the icon on the screen.
So, basically it looks like it is a RCI 2950DX, in a base station case with a power supply, and a large TFT display.
If you look at the picture of the board, you can see the 2950-DX mobile radio chassis ( note the brass inserts for the thumb screws for the mounting brackets ) mounted in the case, and the power supply (switching) to the right of it.
The only real difference is you can program the radio with the USB port RE: memory channels/wallpaper/calendar/clock features.
