Yes I changed the nail only because i needed a hair more length though. I kind of like the nail because not much so much now but back in the day when they were pretty popular and people used to say Im coming in really good what antenna is it and id say its a 7-foot skip shooter and they go oh the one with the nail, lol. Everybody used to talk about the antenna with the nail but that thing worked good and still does. But I bought the antenna to try that type of antenna and while doing research I found that they have the thickest winding wire, for their 4.5 foot and longer ones which is their higher power rated antennas, than any other i have checked. 7ft has an excellent eff rating in that test, which is basically just to say the longer the antenna the better as the norm.
Yes that is what I have seen as well. I also have seen 5K and 10K when searching years ago. I have also read "As much as your coax can handle". I have seen a friend use a TS Sweet 16 with a 108 inch for years, which is the true length you want for 11 meters. I believe I read its 107.something inches to be exact.
Depends on the mount. How much power would it take to jump the Gap and short out?
A 102" requires a 4" hd spring and the mount which brings it to 108" for 1/4 wave length.
