Was looking back and remembering the CB's I've had through the years and thought it would be neat to hear from others. Begin with your very first base station and progress to your current setup. I'll get the ball rolling.

Radio Shack Navajo TRC-30A and Radio Shack ground plane
Pearce Simpson Guardian 23 with a Turner Plus 2 and Hy-Gain CLR2 ground plane
Pearce Simpson Simba SSB with a Turner Plus 3 and Astro Plane ground plane
Browning Golden Eagle Mark III with a D-104 and Astro Beam

Those were in the 1970s. Was out of CB for nearly 40 years. Upon returning . . .

Cobra 85 Dynascan, Royce 619, Realistic TRC-432 and Connex CX366CE with an assortment of homemade antennas.
Current setup: None.

Who's next?

In my 11 meter days:

Midland 76-858 with a 1104C and a Big Stick
Cobra 1000gtl with D-104 and said Big Stick
Added the Avanti PDL2
Cobra 135xlr with 1104C, my move to SSB Only
Uniden Grant both mobile and base.
Added 80' tower and put the big stick above the PDL
Last 11 meter setup, ICOM 720a feeding the BS and PDL.

Golden Eagle mk3, D-104, Kriss "foot locker", (I thing it was 250w....getting old), Star Duster by A/S. and a 3el flat side Beam, I think it was called a "Long John". And last a Pace 123A mobile. W/ Whip antenna.
SBE Trinidad.

Wow! You had a power station.

My first was a Realistic Navaho TRC30A with a Turner +3 base mic and an Archer 1/2 wave ground plane.

Next was my Realistic TRC448 mobile SSB hooked up as a base with the Turner +3 and using the Archer .64 wave ground plane.

Third was my Realistic TRC 490 with a Turner Super Side kick. I bought that radio in 1981 and it is still going strong.

Fourth was a Cobra 139 base. Nice radio.

Fifth, Cobra 148 hooked up as a base to my Archer 1/2 wave "Crossbow" (a Shakespeare Big Stick dyed blue and made for Radio Shack)

Sixth, Uniden PC 122 mobile hooked up as a base to the Crossbow.

Seventh, Uniden Bearcat 980 with a IMAX 2000. The radio died after just six months. I then went back to alternating between my PC 122, my Cobra 148 and my TRC 490.

I've played with a few other ideas. I've used Realistic TRC 216 walkie talkies, Realistic TRC 234 walkie talkies and a Cherokee AH100 walkie talkie (with SSB) as base radios.

1. Realistic Mini 6 TRC-11 feeding a pair of co-phased whips. I inherited this when my Dad died and I had no idea what I was doing. Got out for maybe a block or so.

2. Teaberry "Mighty T". Bought at a flea market for 5 bucks. I had acquired a fiberglass whip from somewhere, and used a piece of wire as a counterpoise. The radio had no modulation, so all I did was annoy people until I figured out they were yelling at me to stop with the dead carriers.

3. Cobra 19XS into a Shakespeare Super Big Stick. Finally got talk to people more than a block away!

4. Uniden PC-244. 5. President Madison. 6 SBE Console V. 7. CPI 2500. 8. President Jackson. 9. Browning Golden Eagle Mark IV A.

Then I started buying stuff off fleabay, and now I'm up to 35 radios. Currently I usually switch off between a Robyn 520D and a Colt Black Shadow SSB, but I'll throw a Cobra 135XLR or 139XLR in the mix for the heck of it.

First base was an 8 channel Hallicrafters CB-3, Turner +2, and Antenna Specialists Super-Magnum half wave. There's been a lot of bases that have come and gone since then, but without a doubt the one I had the most fun with was a Cobra 142GTL, D-104, Firebird 500 amp, and A-99. A lot of worldwide DX was performed with that station. I regret selling that radio more than any I've ever owned, don't have a clue what I was thinking.
