CB Fire Stik Dipole Question

On a “large car”, one still has metal body & west coast mirrors. The Sirio Perfotmer 3/8” (or Wilson 5000) may still be best (height restriction not quite favoring Predator 10k).

On a composite-body “company truck” where one can mount at mirror base or on arm, 7’ Skipshooter is the bees knees.

You definitely have expertise that I don’t. I have a little time behind the wheel of....ah, let’s leave this be for now...

Haha.

Andy I am doing better, I spend a few days in the hospital but better now. It really was like the bad flu, temp it 104.5 at the top but normal now.

Sorry to hear the bad news bud. 104.5 is no fun.

Glad you're doing better.

I believe that Tallman said in another thread, "Height is Might."

The fact is, (in non-DX communication) the higher your antenna, the farther your signal will get out. It is a matter of seeing the farthest horizon. For a given location, the longest (tallest) antenna on a mobile will see the farthest horizon and will get out the farthest. A steel whip is the tallest and has the added advantage of the greatest radiating area due to its large diameter. Unfortunately, a steel whip mounted on the roof of a small car, like a Chevrolet Spark, would look like an hor d'oeuvre with a toothpick stuck in it. This is the main reason for shorter antennas.
So for purists who want maximum signal strength, a 102" whip is the only choice. But shorter, loaded antennas still have their place.

I think I'll buy and old cot frame and a box kilt frame and hang them on my truck...:)

Actually, I do have an old cot frame waiting to become a Moxon.

For over a year now I've been using a kw-7 as a vertical base antenna mounted on a metal balcony railing of my apartment on the 6th floor of a 12 story building.
Considering my location and the exception of the building itself rejecting all signals from the east I'm able to skip talk out west and partially south Everytime there is conditions on a barefoot President ronald.
The kw-7 is just one of many mobile antennas I've experimented with for the best base application with limited space and this includes a 102 inch steel whip bit still the kw-7 out performed everything else I tried in my particular situation .
