Dang rabbits - Coax repair

You need the PL 259's with rg8x screw on adapters.

Silver teflon or Amphenol are as good as they come. Just make sure you get the rg8x adapters with them.

i had a nibble like that.. I coated the spot in rubber cement let it cure a little then rap it with electrical tape then more rubber cement

Despite checking the coax and finding no fault and SWR holding at 1.1, as I have no way to discern how far moisture may have infiltrated up the coax, I think this is probably the best option. In fact, pulled out my PL259's to do just that and discovered they are too small for my RG8X.

Looking for recommendations on source for quality PL 259's

You probably have the UG-175 reducers for RG-58 which is smaller. You need the UG-176 reducer for the RG-8X cable.

I had a problem with a couch rabbit (aka 'house cat') because he was chewing the TV coax cable. SO, I took some red pepper powder and mixed a little vegetable oil with it, and smeared a thin coat of it on that cable. Couch rabbit no longer chews the cable. Problem solved . . .

Habanero sauce works better Rob,even little rodents stay away from cables

I had not completed the antenna install and had to make an emergency trip out of state and let with my coax laying on the ground outside. Came back to find rabbits had chewed on a section.

Obviously there is already some corrosion occurring. This section will end up in a vertical orientation along an exterior wall. I don't relish the idea of replacing the entire length so would welcome any suggestions on how to properly repair it.

Thanks in advance.
can i ask what brand is your coax? i read a post a couple years ago about a guy who had two0 cables laying on the ground side by each and the rodents always chewed one but not the other and one was bedlen and the other was lmr400 but i dont remember which they ate.

You could use burial grade coax or run the sections on the ground thru some grey electrical PVC conduit pipe.
