"Steren" from Ebay seller

You could use burial grade coax or run the sections on the ground thru some grey electrical PVC conduit pipe.

I will be running in conduit. Only on ground because of an emergency trip.

you could always solder the center conductor and braid sepratley heat shrink them then heat shrink the entire case RG 8 has a DB loss of about 2.0 to 2.5 db per hundred feet and then you dont have to worry about the barrel causing connection issues and creating more db loss

Hmmmm ................ that's a thought

Personally, I would use N connectors. They will seal up better and have less loss. A bit overkill for 27 mhz yes but the built in seals work great! Just my 2 copper rounds.
Not an overkill at all!

Pl259's are antiquated and can be unreliable.

Maybe one day manufacturers will step up and start making N connectors the norm.

I'm considering changing all my outdoor connections to N. Your correct, they have less loss with better connectivity and are virtually water tight.
