dipole question

. And wavrider, your riding the wrong wave. Did not see anywhere that 522 was using a yagi. "The majority agree it is usually the highest yagi that gets the best RX and TX," (Hmm, yagi, usually horiz., Hmm, ya gotta get it up there.) A yagi is not a speaker wire dipole. How does that yagi work for you at less than 30 feet on 11 meters?

The comparisions was referring to HIEGHT install, the reference was contest stations being used as a standard. RTFF:D

You tube videos show a Thailand station working DX using a three element yagi on a ten foot pole:whistle: Explain that if you can????? You can also ask DXman, forum member here he posted a link to the video.

Mobiles using verticles have been working DX all over Europe on ten meters , their mobile verticle antennas are not near 30' in the air. Explain that if you can ?????

What it comes down to is Propogation, if mother nature is favorable you can work the world off of a wet noodle. :pop: I will not ask you to explain that as it involves knowledge of how propogation is effected by the atmosphere..

(y) I agree. With the good dx conditions we are having this year out of my mobile i have made dx contacts into south america, west indies, and europe. Some with low power and some with 100 watts.

Are you going to hit all the dx? Well no that is not what I have observed. But one thing i do do is try to answer as many dx calls as I can. If you get to being selective you may not get anything. Sometimes (and there again condition dependent) I hit every dx I try to work and sometimes I only get one or 2 out of 9 or 10 that I try. So don't think about it too long, get on the key and talk.

Exactly, a EE friend of mine sent me a text today, He worked Croatia on 10 meters, with his inverted V, he is located in Louisiana. Not a big deal except his inverted V is taped to his apartment wall on the second floor in his living room.:D

If the propogation is there, work it.

denmark on 100w and a 5/8 verticle at 11:00am this morning from lake tahoe, ca. s9 both directions

Well, I'm at it again. Everything, on 11 meters DX, is CONDITIONS related. You either have them, or you don't. It is true, you may get 1 or 2 DX contacts out of 10. Especially with a dipole. I have also been informed that a dipole is bi-directional. (I found this online.) I have also been informed that a dipole will work omnidirectionally best at 90 degree inverted v angle, instead of flat horizontal, for what I am doing.(A USMC radio specialist.) My dipole is at 36 ft. I have been working New Mexico and Wyoming, and points west, (esp. N.M. this weekend, they must have the CONDITIONS.), as well as TN. and FLA. And my dipole is running north to south, inverted V. I'm on the North Coast in OH. So, I don't know 522, It's what you have and what you can afford, and what you can do with it. THIS IS WHAT I"M DOING. THIS IS WHAT IS WHAT IS WORKING FOR ME.:D
