So back on subject...so the easiest way seems to be radio..mic pre-amp..compression..eq? Via direct inject?
Cobra 29What radio are you wanting to do this on? An AM only radio or a SSB radio, like a 148GTL or similar?
~Cheers~
I don't think you are going to direct inject a 29 with any measure of the term "easy".Cobra 29
So what radio do u suggest?I don't think you are going to direct inject a 29 with any measure of the term "easy".
You could inject audio through the audio wire on the mic input, it will pass through the amplification stage, and to the TA7222 (depends how old/new the 29 is..)
If you inject audio at the TA7222 you still face the limitations of that device.
And the modulation transformer itself will ultimately act as a bottleneck...
Other Audio Amp IC's found in the 29 are YD1022 which came after the TA7222, & then they switched to the TDA2003 (newest one used I think)
But maybe i'm way off base and have not a clue what i'm saying...
Top shelf choice for CB would be a Cobra 2000 GTL, or a Cobra 148 GTL.So what radio do u suggest?

If you don't mind export rigs.. R.C.I.
(Galaxy, Connex, Ranger)
I don't have experience In doing direct inject, all my thoughts and ideas come from theory and info I read online. On an Export you would use a wider filter as discussed earlier in this thread, and then pipe audio directly into the balanced modulator?
Someone else with experience is going to have to chime in.. Also the resultant radio may or may not be okay to use on SSB after modification, but I simply do not know.

It may be prudent to use some kind of buffer circuit between your audio source and the high level audio amp. I mean more than just a cap. The MPF102 is a cost friendly and very warm sounding FET.
