Greetings all,

I am new to CB radio but do love to experiment with all the new devices. I recently discovered this post and was wondering if it's possible to carry it out?

"Simply an AM CB Radio thats been peaked and tweaked to swing more than 4watts and then hook the monitor speaker when you talk and key the mic... that causes terrible feedback and put a deep cycle 12 volt marine battery with it. Tape it all together put a magnet mount antenna on top of the cb place it somewhere they cannot find it heck put it in a box bury it and put the antenna somewhere in the trees ;p THAT DRIVES em CRAZY because any speaker hooked up or not gives off that feedback because its being transmitted at 45 watts."

What do you think? Is it possible to do?

Is it possible? Yes. But keep this in mind:

1. If you do manage to get 45 watts out of the radio, it's going to die from heat death pretty quickly. It's not designed to pump that much power out.

2. Continuously transmitting will drain the battery pretty quickly. Deep cycle or not, it's only got so many electrons to push from pole to pole. This is assuming the radio doesn't die from heat death first.

3. The speaker feeding back into the mike is going to be loud. Loud enough that passers by can probably locate your little screech beacon fairly easily.

4. Continuously transmitting from a fixed location will make your little screech beacon an easy target for anyone who can do a bit of direction finding. They then get a free radio, antenna, and deep cycle battery.

5. If anyone figures out that you are the source of the little screech beacon, there may be reprisals. In what form is up to the imagination and bravado of the operators in your area.

So, again, it's possible. It's just really, really stupid.

Also known as a bush baby. Nothing new. We did that to eachother 30 years ago. The kids on ch19 around here have been doing something similar to each other for a long time now to plug eachothers ears. The device is hooked to a 9v battery and can last for days transmitting a tone.
Not very friendly to do and if caught well, i dont even want to go there.
Its probably best not to mess around.

Back in the days of lovely sunspots during the 70s the CB ruled. Every one seemed to have them. A good share of those were really challenged when it came to social skills. Some of them were just downright mean. The stuff they would do on air to annoy others was pretty amazing. You wondered why people even would do such things.

There were the fellows who thought it fun to key the mic and block the channel and five channels on each side with noise or potty mouth. That was when a group would eventually just say they have had enough.

The fox hunt skills were brought to bear. Several CBers would do a triangulation of the signal. They would just keep doing searches to get closer and closer to where the offender was. Eventually they would find him. It may take hours or it may take days but they would find him. When they did find him coax was often cut or a pin inserted through it to short the coax. Amps suddenly finding a shorted coax would release the magic smoke. The band was clear once again for local and DX talking. I had heard of multiple times of this type of hunt going on.

We still have that going on up here. There is one guy that plays bluegrass music on a loop 24/7 for days to try and plug one operators recieve. It dont work just aggravates the rest of us.
