I wasn't trying to scare anyone.

But with events of social media as the nature of the beast it easy to bring the wrath of someone upon you for just being in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

There's two sides to every coin ...

It's why you have to be careful for even having a conversation with someone you've called out for coffee and you wait to meet them in a parking lot.

It doesn't take much these days.

It's a new way of thinking - I mean, it's odd to see a post that raises questions like this. Because for many it's been a gimme' like granted access - as long as you don't bother anyone you're allowed to do what you wish

So No the cops aren't going to do the paperwork because of what you own. It's what you do with it that then tips their hand...like Why are the Cops there in the first place?

So, when you ask these questions - makes me go...Hmmm - well if they're law abiding - why even ask?

If you're worried bout "Export this and added on that Wheel Chock to this Predator 1000K Hi-Po Miracle of vehicle using Lecce Neville's to power this light show and mess of a radio" - that is your business.

It's when you run into your competition and they wish to do a stomp right there - is when you may have crossed a line - see above...Hint "Wrong Place Wrong Time"

There are issues around evasion - that is for those what look for, or out to get into, trouble because they may wish to vindicate their reason to drive around with a Police scanner listen in to the local traffic and what the enforcement arm is doing to protect it.

Cops don't care about radios. They don't need to know. IF they get called - they have to go investigate.

They're just simply going to tell you to leave - it's when you don't or keep coming back does that list apply.

With technology like Ring and STEM as well as local merchants protecting their stuff - as along as you have permission its fine - but...again, it's hard to testify against yourself if you're there and it doesn't have to be you doing it. You have to prove your innocence if storeowners get angry customers complaining.

That's' if you're in their way, or bothering their PA system or interrupting their flow of traffic. Otherwise, just don't attract any more attention to yourself - and you'll be fine.

If anything your observations of activities going on in the parking lot can provide you some perks when it comes to witnessing and occupying space to keep shady stuff from getting too close to the storefronts. Wolves travel in packs - Stores don't like letting only one run the till by themselves when the sun goes down. Security Guards are the reason to show that there is someone whom is there to observe - but solitary ones tend to be less motivational to move along those whom perdition is in their blood. There's a benefit in a "school of thought".

The list I posted earlier - is what can be used against you if you try to exercise any rights. You're on someone else's property - so forget the rights part, you being allowed to be there is privileges given to you and everyone else by the owners of that store.

Remember there are people that don't follow the rules and make the rest of us that are out to talk to friends - look bad . It's (CB's) no-longer considered a "normal" thing to drive around - with big antennas and wait in parking lots anymore.

Most people just break out the cell phone and call ahead - or worse - texting "I'm Here" while they're driving over the "Handicapped Parking" sign - then try to blame it on you because you distracted them.

Relax, it's not the 1980's anymore....

Really not worried about it, was just wondering if the police could do anything if they saw an illegal radio and amplifier hooked up in a vehicle.

Glad to know I didn't get you upset...

But I can also see how people would take this as...

Dare I say it?

Profiling.

Profiling.jpg

Because it was the question you didn't ask that really should be brought up...

For if issues came up and you wound up getting "Profiled" (In a way, you were...) - I would take issue with that. Because then I'd tell you to get the heck outta' there for there are far more issues going on in that area that you can get "Profiled" for that you don't want on your life's resume.

For the Traffic cop to ask you more questions cites the person that talked to the cop as the one of concern for you. That is the question that is more Obvious - it's the Elephant in the room in here with us at the moment.

You can be a Upstanding Citizen, A Red Cross Volunteer - even have saved lives because you know CPR - that all gets shot out the window just because you hold a microphone in your hand? No - I beg to differ
  • Until they get to know you, you are known by this association. Once the dusts settles and they realize you're not a threat - this problem goes away. But it changes you. Not you directly but how you are perceived by others that can exercise a stigma - a Habeas Corpus can not be applied here, for you are not charged. So therefore a "profiling" issue then applies as such.

Again a Profiling issue, remember I mentioned Stalking - if she's got family troubles - you don't want to be Identified as "Steves' Phone". So there's a air of nervousness about this.

Xfinity even did a parody of such...
StevensPhone.png

Just wanted to clear my conscience about such a method of "Branding". because you don't know whom has accused you of doing anything wrong except for the fact that you are getting asked questions that makes you want to know more.

It can make ANYONE uncomfortable...

You have a right to feel as such as to make you ask - so you know, we're on your side. But the way Social Media is nowadays, it can get embarrassing for all parties involved.

Yeah, that guy was a nuisance for many years everywhere he went.
You might get a visit if you were bleeding a church pa with foul language. Bleed air traffic and you can expect a visit but not by locals lol.

I haven't actually heard that guy. There are some real losers on the airwaves though. Web sdr can be better than Jerry Springer.
I heard him mostly on 38lsb from 2010-2017 when I moved to Florida and didnt have a station. That's when I saw on another forum he finally got his ass in a sling with the fcc for douchebagging local repeaters, $18k in fines lol. That's what ended the waffle.

The FCC turned over enforcement to local jurisdictions.
This left me pondering.. how can the local PD enforce something they know nothing about. I then read the ruling which states "

(3) The Commission shall, to the extent practicable, provide technical guidance to State and local governments regarding the detection and determination of violations of the regulations specified in paragraph (1).

This sure doesn't make me feel any better

I guess that can happen with anything. A cop could misinterpret the law and you'll have to get it straightened out in court....or fight it on the street and make the 10:00 news. :D
