Export Radios, Amps, and the Police?

The way I understand it a low pass filter does not have anything to do with bleeding channels within its operating range, It is more to stop spurious emissions above 30 mhz.
You understand that correctly. A LPF does absolutely nothing for in-band splatter.

I was just curious because I had a episode with a parking cop who asked me about my antenna(predator 10K) and I said it was for cb radio and she said she thought that was for kids and I told her that it and ham radio has saved many lives and still do and people of all ages talk on the radio today. She got all red in the face and left. Couple weeks later Im outside by my vehicle and she was talking to a cop directing traffic by my house. When she left about 10 minutes later he comes over asking me about my antenna and radio stuff and if it was legal and did i have one of those trucker boxes. At the time i only had a Galaxy 979 and I let him look and I told him i only do cb and explained the antenna as compared to a whip yada yada he left. I was just wondering if they can arrest you for it if it was"illegal" stuff.
Don't talk to cops. Never let them search your vechile or castle with out a warrant. Never volanteer to let them search either. That is a great way to invite them to charge you for some random thing you did not even know was against the law.

The above is not legal advice it is advice every one of my Social Studies and Civics teachers gave the class multiple time a year every year from 5th through 12th grade. It is advice based on the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

I am not a lawyer but you should consider talking to a high school civics teacher or lawyer or reading the history of the USA and it's foundations! It is none of their business what you have in your car or home and should it become their business they can get a warrant for anything that is not in plane sight! Do not openly break the law and never give up your right to remain silent and not self incriminate and to invoke your right to an attorney.

It sounds like you live in a large city and are used to not having any rights or having fallen prey to stupid idea's like "If you got nothing to hide...."! Just say no. Get a copy of the Constitution and Bill of Rights and learn the history and reason for every single word and sentence!

Be a good citizen, obey the law and limit your exposure to LEO's at all cost! Minimize your exposure to criminals! Limit your exposure to people that do not treat you with kidness, dignity and respect! Limit your esposure to people that live on the fringes of society. Limit your exposure to narassists, physcopaths, sociopaths, or any of the dark triad traits outsie of business!

When you talk on the radio make sure your gear is clean and clear, do not talk over people, do not get drunk and act a fool on the radio, do not operate on the frequencies that amateur radio operators are legaly using, do not use stupid amounts of power. Do these things and you will never get a letter in the mail from the FCC!

Please keep in mind that not everybody on this site is in the USA !!

While the advice given may be accurate in the USA, following it in many other countries of the world where this site may have members could result in arrest, charges or other unintended consequences!!

The laws governing interaction with police in the USA are NOT the same as those in other countries (including Canada) and this site goes worldwide. Please be aware of the international nature of this website when giving out such advice.......

It's hard to imagine many things lower on local law enforcement's priority list than screwdrivered exports and splatter-amps.
like child trafficing, meth labs etc etc that should be a main concern in my opinion

You genuinely have to be a real dick to get a letter from the FCC, and I mean a real asshole.
I have never seen an enforcement action that did not have a "Notice of Apparent Liability" posted during the initial investigation.

That notice is a get out of jail free card so to speak.
Answering the letter and stating any corrective action you will take usually results in the FCC dropping the whole thing.
A normal rational human would take a look at it and fix the problem so as to avoid anymore issues with the fcc, total dingbats ignore them and continue on causing hate and discontent.....
Kind of like poking a sleeping bear.
You poke enough and you get results, but maybe not what you wanted.

As far as local law enforcement you will find that most don't want the headache dealing with CB problems, I have experienced this first hand.

In my experience you need only interfere with someone who has a FCC license, like the local fire/ambulance dispatching. A license-free radio, no matter how illegal is no longer the FCC's problem. They convinced congress to let them off the hook, and put CB-interference problems in the same local-jurisdiction category as a barking dog, or tuning your drag racer in the driveway after midnight. But the license is the key. As soon as someone with a FCC license is getting the interference, the FCC starts to care. Short of that, not so much.

These days with people using cable and satellite and that's even going by the wayside with streaming, I wouldn't think TV interference is much an issue anymore.

Landline cordless phones in populated areas have been mostly replaced by cellular.

Stereo speakers with excess wire and powered computer speakers can be an interference issue.

What else?

Is anybody going through RFI issues with neigboors and with what devices?

My nearest neighbors were hearing me through an older set of powered computer speakers a year or more ago. They later replaced both the computer and the speakers and no problems since then.

Truth be told, I've had FAR more problems with the neighbors gear interfering with my radios than the other way around !! Over the years I've had problems with grow-lights, internet over powerline systems, CO2 generators, solar controllers and a myriad of other things that people in the area use. The good news is, I've been able to work with all those people to mitigate the interference their devices were creating (and yes, that took time and sometimes $$).
I also jumped through various hoops to get the power company out here to fix their noisy lines, which they finally did.

Now I have a noise level of zero and the neighbors are all happy.

I had a serious issue over here about 18 years ago, I had a customer at the time who bought a five pill base amp. He didn't really have any interference problems but he had noise that came through on his transmission. I blamed the power supply and a million other things and after going through it a million times I said you've got another problem somewhere.. after dealing with the power company which was incredibly difficult they determined that there was some sort of noise coming off of a pole transformer on the street near his house. That transformer if you went up next to it you could hear making some sort of noise. They finally replaced that pole transformer and it got rid of the noise on his transmitted audio. And the box made more watts. It was always weak before that. I never would have believed that that would have been the issue but it was and it took over a year to resolve

There are alot of stupid people in the world. Having a badge doesn't mean you have any special intelligence or knowledge of the laws.

My best friend had a similar experience. He got pulled over years ago because he had an antenna on his car. Not speeding, no broken tail lights, it was the antenna.
The cop asked for his id and paperwork etc, the next words were asking why he had an antenna. He explained to officer friendly that it was to talk on CB. The cop told him it was illegal for him to have that in a car, its only for truckers on highways. Then he said its illegal to listen to cops on the road with it. Really screamed at him too. Told him he was gonna get impounded and that he was gonna "take a ride" with him...
When he went back to his car to run plates or talk to his supervisor or whatever I'm sure they must have told this moron to quit what he was doing. He gave back his papers without saying anything, no apologies, and when he was walking back to his patrol car he mumbled " its only for truckers" and left.
Yes stupid over zealous idiots exist
