Freebanding for Beginners

Aha ! Thanks 178.
The other part of this whole freeband thing is that people often forget that the so called "freeband" frequencies are legitimate CB channels in many other countries. Brazil has 80 channels from 26965 to 27855. Germany also has 80, from 26515 to 27405. New Zealand has a whole second legacy CB band on 26 MHz. The UK also has a second band at the upper end of 27 MHz. Russia has 160 channels for their CB band, covering most of 26 and 27 MHz in 5 KHz increments. Most of Africa considers CB to be all of 26 to 28 MHz as well.
So the U.S., Canada, and some of Europe only have 40 channels and it is technically illegal to transmit outside those 40. But that doesn't necessarily apply in the rest of the world. In many places it is completely legitimate to use those frequencies (which is also the real reason why export radios exist).

Huh? What's funny?
It's not free to use, in fact, it's 100% illegal to use this is why I said funny. We all did it just to find the term "free band" funny. I fully understand that in some parts of the world, these frequencies are legal to use. CB should have been VHF as it was originally planned to be.

Hi all, I compiled a complete guide to Freebanding for beginners, including a Frequency Chart. It's totally free to download and use for anyone who's interested: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1eU9MiLwNIli-jcQB4twREmiuabj9VLob?usp=sharing
I'm not going to risk opening that link either. I sure hope it's not just another rehash of that completely bogus list of countries and frequencies that's been bouncing around the net for years !!

I just wince when I see the words "frequency chart". As someone who has spent almost 40 years freebanding I can assure you there are, worldwide, only a handful of frequencies that are actually used as calling channels and that nearly all on that chart are a figment of someone's imagination.
