but not mobile. To the person that said in Dallas they used antennas the size of quarters i have two on the roof. Im starting to think maybe i should join Ares and put giant yellow lights on the roof and windows and get giant magnets for the doors that say Ares lol

Back in early 2000's drove a top of the line '95 Crown Vic, black heavy tinted windows front & rear, performance pkg. w/duals & factory mag wheels, black Larsen NMO27 CB antenna on right side of trunk lid. Hate to count how many people thought I was some kind of OFFICIAL.
However, can't say I was ever harassed over it.

Interesting discussion. Around "here" just about all the hunters have CB or marine radios in their pickup trucks for coordinating hunting activities. Lots of business band radios in pickups as well. We have a lot of hams in the area that run 40 meter mobiles and have screwdriver antennas on their cars and trucks. Most public safety is 800 trunking, so most of those antennas are easily discernible from other radio services.
One of the local PD's makes a point of pulling over EVERY used, unmarked PD cruiser as they are the vehicle of choice for drug smugglers. Interestingly enough, over 90% of those they pull over in these vehicles have drugs hidden in them!
Don't think it's a good idea to go into a biker bar with an XTS5000 or APX on your belt.:drool:

Your wrong. Some plates when ran or looked up a nice phone call from the FBI or a knock on the door. IMHO who gives a flip'n fudge if some script kitty looks up a license plate.
Scenario: You accidentally back out in front of someone that is prone to rage nearly causing an accident. He flips out and notes your plate number. He is still pissed when he gets home and looks up your plate number. Tomorrow he and his Glock are waiting for you at the end of your driveway to make sure you never do it again.
A bit far fetched? Maybe. Possible? Certainly. The human race crazy and spiteful.
