Just settled in for a little radio this morning. Rig was on 20 meters. Turned up the volume and heard a couple of guys talking.
"That antenna's doing you a fine job. I wouldn't change a thing."
"Thank you, sir. That's good to hear. You just made my day."
After they finished talking I went to 38 LSB to check it out. Had no sooner gotten there when I heard, "I shit on guys like you every morning after breakfast."
Isolated incident? Yep. Reflective of CB as a whole? Nope.

If you play in the sewer you will always find a turd, same on ham bands too.
I have been a ham since 1976 and I don't know why other hams think they are God's gift to mankind. Listen on 14.208 and you will hear a bunch I think from Texas and Ark. that will not acknowledge you and if they see you are a recent ham they will bash the hell out of you. Personally I don't give a rats butt how or when you got your license and I have always offered to help others whether it be antenna help or just answering questions. I am just glad to see the ranks are expanding.
Guess I haven't found the ham sewer yet. In a year and a half I've yet to hear any profanity on the ham bands. Zero. Could be I'm lucky or could be the percentages.
The behavior is the thing I like most about amateur radio.

I really don't have a problem with 90% of the guys that run channel 6.
I don't hang there like I did in the years past but as far as foul mouth cussing nasty childish bullshit I have heard much worse on channel 19 and even some specific ham frequencys.
I find a large part of the guys running 6 just want to have fun.
There are some well know big players and everyone thinks that everyone else is running 10K plus down the coax.....and yes some are more than capable of doing that, but some are running much less than you think.
Big antennas are also responsible for lots of big signals.
Good Audio scores points as well.
There are some good peeps that roll on channel 6 might just be a different style rather than bad operators......
