How does Motormouth Maul get away with it?

Or just fedex it back. It ain't all that complicated.

Well yes but in my case I was going on vacation so I myself was not about to Fedex anything. I wanted most of it to help pass the time on the plane. :) My point was to show that getting thru security with electronics is not complicated either. I got the idea about removing the case screws from a buddy in England who flew into and out of Heathrow a lot back when the IRA was a major threat. He never had a problem then and still doesn't and he still flies with all sorts of gear.

MMM's 96 ft long, 70 ft up in the air antenna, is PROOF that it's not how much power you're running....it's how good (or bad) of an antenna you are running.

You could probably run 4 watts into MMM's antenna and STILL talk at least half way across the country, if not more.

Perhaps one day I'll build me a huge beam like MMM has and aim it at Cali. East coast to the west coast.

I have been getting out right to florida from ontario, many many times a day on my stock bearcat, have 2 pages in my log book in the last 2 weeks, it's all mother nature, a decent antenna, I have to wait for the quiet spots, but it works for me most days. Would watts help , sure it would, would I have any more fun, nope. People are happt to talk to me when I tell them I am 12 watts, they want to know all about it. I also run into other stock radios and that is a real kick for both of us, You don't need power to get out and have fun.

I heard him say it's 53' long & I think his audio SUCKS unless you like it sounding like your head is in the bottom or a portable toilet? All of the echo or reverb or whatever he is so proud of is far from flattering to me.I hope I never have any radio that sounds anywhere close to that & if anyone thinks that any antenna will make a Barefoot radio be as strong as his signal is does not know a whole lot about radios. There are 6 ft or longer mono band antennas out there that don't produce that kind of signal on much better bands than 11 meters so it's not just the antenna. He is also now a Ham Radio Operator & I bet he does not run the Crappy transmit audio on any Ham Band or he would be Black Balled because Echo don't get it there.I have never heard him on SSB just channel 28 & I NEVER use Channel 6 for any reason since I have Two Toilets in my home I have no need for another Toilet Bowl.

I agree. In the beginning he had a nice clean sound but it went to hell when he started using the heavy processing.

according to what he posted on fb back when he was still putting the new antenna together, he said 96'...this was back in 2016...He posted earlier this year he was going to lengthen it to 108'...now weather or not he did that, I don't know... I was wrong about the weight tho...The antenna is closer to 200 pounds, don't know where i got that other figure.

This was a post from 2016 on fb:
John Bartal 96 feet, no more CP, although I should have gotten a construction permit :) don't really want to get in to specs, as other manufacturers have little bitty antennas with impressive numbers. Suffice it to say it will be a little better the the 3 element I am on now! :-
