Icom IC-2730 Review

How is this radio WRT intermod? In the past radios like the 2820H and others basically were like a barn door on the front end....

I have never had an issue with Intermod on my ICOM 2820H? I ran it mobile for several years & had not one issue that I ever recall with noise. It is now my full time VHF/UHF Base radio since I replaced it with a TYT TH-9000 Quad Band Mobile but the 2820H has performed flawlessly everywhere I have used it on Analog & D-STAR. I Hate touch screen radios so I would have no issues buying another 2820H if I needed another Dual Band mobile with D-STAR. I can not say that about the IC-880H which I just gave to my neighbor.

I guess it depends on where you live. Basically my 2820H gets annihilated by the
stuff, depending on the frequency. Then again these days most of the dualbanders
do, which is sad. Outside of that if it wasn't for the tinny, constricted TX audio I could
forgive the thing. I think I'm going to find someone that does SMT and try to get the
audio mod done to it and save it....

I get constant comments about the transmit audio being a bit Loud. It to to low set on the other setting so I leave it Loud. I use it with the hand microphone though I have a dsk microphone with an adapter I could use with it but I don't really have space for a 3rd desk microphone.

I've had a 2730 since July and have it mounted in my 2017 Chevy pickup.Nice little radio, I chose it over the Yaesu FTM 400mainly because the mic cord plugs directly into the remote head when separated from the main radio unit. What I don't like is that (for me anyway) programming PL tones via the faceplate is very non intuitive. Yaesu radios are much easier.
My question if anyone know the answer:
Let's say I have a 2m frequency programmed in Memory 1, with a PL tone of 100hz. I realize that tone doesn't open up the repeater and that I need 107.2 hz.
How do I reprogram the 107.2 into memory 1? I can do that if the freq is in VFO mode, but I want the proper PL in the memory channel without having to have RT Systems do that when I get home.
Thanks for any help.

It's not cheap - it's right at $100.
It is very depressing learning about the extra cost of brackets and mounts and now to learn the issues with Bluetooth. I am searching for a mobile that i can chase satellites with. It’s all new for me. But one thing i’ve learned is that head phones will help. I just thought, is a mic plug present on this radio? Maybe i don’t need Bluetooth.

So I have a cobra 138xlr and the meter dose not work... It dose not key up and signal dose not work.... It is not stuck it the meter moves freely. now wires are resoldered on both ends...So now that do I look at. Could it be a diode or a transistor?
