In search of Palomar SL41

OK boys and gurls! I got the mic (4 pin) today via USPS Priority mail and it is OLD NEW stock, or NEW OLD stock - whichever you prefer. I called BOB's CB SHOP today and asked about the new packaging (heat-sealed plastic bag) that the mic came in and I was told that they bought the remaining stock of mics and repackaged them.

I spoke with Paula and told her that my rubber lip protector was missing and she said it fell off (no biggie). I asked about the AAA battery condition and she said that she installed a fresh Duracell battery which I verified. My mic came with a jumper attached to increase the bass as well - I read somewhere that these mics didn't come with the jumper piece so that was a surprise. The mic gain pot was set to the 3 o'clock position, 5 o'clock is the max position - I left it as is. I didn't find any obvious signs of abuse on the mic and the original plastic film was still covering the nameplate.

In the brief time I tested it on my President Ronald the mic sounded good to me. I x-mitted into a dummy load so as not to overload my Icom 7600 which had the attenuator engaged as well. I'll have to test it over the air in a few days.

All in all I am not disappointed with my NEW OLD SL41.

Tracking shows mine will be here tomorrow. I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't clarify in their description about them not being brand new in factory packaging... I know the lip guard isn't a really big deal but we just paid 84 bucks for what I thought was a brand new factory packed mic. Maybe I'm just that picky buyer..... we'll see what arrives tomorrow. I've got my hopes up that'll it will mate well with my base anytone 6666.

I too was disappointed when I got the mic and saw it wasn't in the original packaging. :(

I was just disappointed when I opened my original packaging and tried the mic. Sorry guys, I don’t see the fascination with this mic and I bought 2.
Not so much a fascination in my case, I'm just in hopes that it'll pair well with my anytone. For 170 bucks and not liking the mic I can see why you'd be bummed but at least yours arrived in factory packaging.

Well I got mine today and same as Mikey D, came in a repackaged bag but mine does have the lip guard on it. Cosmetically it appears to be new but inside looks like there's a mod that I don't remember seeing in there when they were available before. Two through hole resistors and this one as has the jumper installed as well. I'll snap a few pictures in a bit and post them here.

I'll have to set up for making a video but I'll see what I can do, no promises. That video left much to be desired but in my case I'm looking for a good stock mic substitute for my anytone being the others don't do well with it. I don't think I'm going to make it to the shack today so it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Family responsibilities come first when you work late and have youngins. When I got home like a kid at Christmas, I hit the mailbox, to the bench for a quick examination then the girls came to find me. Now I'm spent sitting in the recliner so the mic and testing is on stand by

Is there by chance anyone that has one of these that is in virgin condition and willing to shoot some internal pictures for me? I'd really appreciate it! I finally got a chance to play with it this evening and I'm trying to figure out what's going on in this one I got yesterday. Here's a couple of pictures of what I'm looking at.
