In search of Palomar SL41

Well if nobody beats me to it, then yes, yes I will. But it’ll be Wednesday before I can do it, 4am is coming fast and it’s bedtime.
10-4, I really appreciate it my friend. I'm hoping to figure out what they've done here. Are any of the ones you fellas purchased from there have this mod? Here's a couple I found on the web that I guess are stock photos. It is not like this one.

Well I figured what the heck and called Bob's today to ask about the mod in the mic. The woman I talked to said the mics were purchased in parts and they assembled them there at their shop. I was told the resistors in there were an update recommended by palomar to prevent squealing and so they put them there when they assembled them. I don't remember the one I had before squealing but maybe I had a good one. Does the one you fellas received have the resistors also?

I bought one of these from Bob's this weekend. I have a few of the old ones somewhere. The older ones squealed like a pig regardless of what I tried. So, they are some where in a box. I hope this one works better.

The one I got had the same mods done to it. I guess it's SOP. No squeal BTW! When I spoke to Palomar last year they said they were coming out with a new and improved SL41 from a different manufacturer soon. This is probably one of the improvements they incorporated into the new mics.

At least Bob's was honest about it; I like that about that place!

I took mine apart last night to investigate the tiny pcb a little bit. I see it was originally created for several different radios I guess, maxxlog, sr radios I'm guessing strykers? My thinking is pulling from the 12 volt supplied mic jack on the anytone to make it battery free somehow. I know I know why not just use it as it is right, but why not see if it can work for the sake of learning something and the satisfaction that goes with the work. I'm only day dreaming it at the moment. There are already parts there that aren't used in this specific application so if I can get a schematic from palomar I could see what the intended purpose of those parts are for.

Have you had the SL41 in use?

Thoughts?

Yes I tried it on all my radios and it seemed to shine the best with the mirage 36hp3 and 99v2 both of which are tucked away because I'm a radio hoarder. Unfortunately it didn't pair well with the anytones either the 6666 or the apollo 2, both the audio didn't sound as rich as the stock. Strange thing isn't it.... Imo it's a much better audio and good reports on the newer ranger built radios on my receiver radio and from local reports.
