Just got my brand new Ranger2950Dx

Nice choice on rig/antenna! Hope you like it and have fun with it. I have one of the OLD orange display 2950's, and it's still a pretty darned good rig. Definitely go the battery route, and ground to the frame.

Brett

Good morning, well folks I found at Best Buy this: Metra 10awg complete amp kit $ 34.99 includes all I need to complete the radio install, I think it's perfect for my needs since I am only running a Ranger2950Dx and it's a affordable price, any thought's are welcome, again many thanks for all your suggestions and ideas, later and God Bless!!!!

That should work super for just the radio, going #8 or #6 would be overkill so your fine. Should be a great radio for you.

Only reason for even bringing up the larger size wire, I.E., #8awg or larger, was for future use. But #10awg will handle most radios just fine. Even the 100w ones. It al depends on the length of the run as to what size wire I would use. But for what he has and the radio he is using. He got what he needed. The kits come with everything you need, minus tools. Ground wire and all. He should be set. Keep that ground as short as possible and to the frame. Use No-Ox for all connections, including the connectors themselves inside the barrel itself where the wire enters. Use a light coat on all connection points as well. Not sure if you have any, but Home Depot sells some I tnink, or eBay for sure. Not expensive. No-Ox "A" special is what you want. See pic below. Hope this helps and be safe.
