I usually use a hole punch. Probably done 6-8 installs with it. Works great. Older cars, I've drilled.
Maybe that's what I'll go find at the hardware store tomorrow. I've got a step drill bit but I'm hesitant of putting it to the roof.I usually use a hole punch. Probably done 6-8 installs with it. Works great. Older cars, I've drilled.
In my installation I won't have to. To my advantage I have a dome light that I'll pull to have access for the mounting location. I've pulled many headliners for screen installs so to me that's not a big deal.It ain’t the hole.
It’s taking apart the interior and then fitting it back together WITHOUT breaking factory attach devices.
Not allowed to drill these company road tractors. So it’s a LOT of interior to work thru.
Larsen also tends to be accurate with their gain figures.Larsen tends to use accurate power rating since most of their customers are 2-Way FM band.
Well fellas I got my package in last weekend with all my goodies and turns out out they were out of the Larson so I went with the Laird CB27 in the black. The price on the laird was higher but he sold it to me at the cost of the Larson. Talking to the guy, he said the Laird tuned a little better and performed better than the other so I thought why not. Anyhow I purchased a 3/4 radio chassis punch, punched the hole and installed everything last night. I have to say I'm impressed with the look, the way it tuned and the performance so far. Took it out for a spin with my wife on the base and it did wonderful all over the small town I live in. I have to say for me it looks better than the huge Stryker mag mount and being its at about the center of the roof from front to back it (I know I'll hear about it) it does so far just as good as the Stryker. One thing that struck me was I ended up getting the laird nmo mount with rg8x (no connector) and the coax is different than the stranded 8x that I've used and even have a spool of. Solid center conductor, with a hard poly inside insulator. I've never worked with the lmr240 but knowing whats I've read it seems to be more like it than 8x. Pleased so far and wanted to to say thank you to you fellas for the thoughts and suggestions.
I have a Browning NMO 140-B CB antenna mounted on a Third Brake Light Antenna Adapter mount and it seems to do the job for me.A little late...but that whip looks like its bigger in diameter than a 1000?
I'm looking for another NMO antenna to play around with, reason I happened on this thread.

I had it installed in my Durango and it did impressively well with my anytone 6666. Swr was nice, tx and rx really nice then about 4 months after I sold the truck. It worked really well for me. Now I'm going to run the same antenna on an nmo trunk lip mount for the Altima. I guess I'll update when I get that done.Anything new as to opinion?
