M-216 BIG DADDY Antenna

Well its been a long day as i have a new Grandsone :p: and his first name is Sam. With all that's been going on I have got the Boom and the Element's put together the Rotor plate is in place so it wont be long. I will say it is one big Antenna to say the least. If it talk's and as good as it looks it will be great. I will keep you posted on how we are getting along and if i can hog tie the wife long enough to post pics i will be adding those as well. God Bless.

congradulations! keep us posted.

There was one a few towns over that was up on a tower until the people sold the house and the new owners had the tower removed. They are NOT a common antenna at all.

Thanks for all the post. There is very littel on the net about this Antenna and your right about no being common. I think it will be a beast when i get it on the tower. I bought this Antenna at a Estate Sale he passed on and was a longtime CB and Ham oprator. There was loads of stuff new in boxs and i got what i could hall. I picked up some nice Amps -SWR Meters power supplys a new in the box pdl-II-2 Antenna. Plus some used things as well. This was not a giveaway sale but nice stuff. It was like walking in a 1970's CB shop. If I had been a littel sonner i would have bought some more stuff that someone beat me to. I dont mind everyone has to get lucky once in a while. God Bless.

Sounds like my dad's house, he's been a HAM for over 65 years. Major pack rat, won't part with anything. He has a few Hallicrafters and Collins rigs that are new and sealed. He was big into Johnson, Utica and Lafayette also, all pristine and boxed away. He's a HAM hoarder. He bitches every time I sell or give away anything.

Yea sounds like my dad he is passed on now but he had some nice stuff as well. It was dew to being a tec and having a weekend shop and sometimes he took things in on trade for work when someone was short on money. And sometimes he would buy stuff that folks would bring in to help them out. I do know one thing he hung on to it like it was his sh-- till the day he passed. After that some of the FAM went in to help take care of things never saw most of it again.

Hi Right now a ham II that will most likely change befor long. I am bulding a gear driven rotor but not done with it yet. I may not use it untill I need to I have my tower set up on a winch that if the wind looks like it may get out of hand I can pull the pin at the bottem release the latch from the house flip a switch and lower it in less than 3 min. So far it works like a champ. I have built a ramp that it rest on to keep the Antenna from touching the ground when lower'ed. I have spent some time doing this and so far it works very nice. The reason the for the ham II is I had 3 of them 2 new in box and one used a very short time . I have the used one sold and kept the other ones. So far it seem to work out very nice but if i see something i think need a change you can bet i will do it ASAP. That's it so far thanks for tour post. God Bless.

That is so cool. It comes with a giant dude to turn the beam. SWEET!

LOL Yea it comes with everything but the big dude to turn the Antenna. it is no easy task to get all the stuff to work as it should. I have spent some time on it thats for sure. Thanks for the post.

Hey silvereagle, if you have the manual, why don't you post it here in a PDF file or maybe submit it to CBTricks.

I would like to add it to my file.

Has anyone ever used one of these or any info about them will help. Thanks and God Bless.

Hi to all Ithought i would give you an update on the new base station and the Big Daddy Antenna. I have it all done the Antenna works great as well as the tower with the power winch to let it up n down. I got the new coax cables on and have the SWR'S down to 1.2 on average . That is on HORZ- VERT- and when on both it is 1.1 I can live with that for sure. So far i have talked to 14 state's plus some local folks as well. The setup is a Corba 2000 with the tower and Big Dadd Antenna. I am very happy with it as it is better than i thought it would be. We have photos loaded and getting ready to put them on here. We will be doing this very soon. Anyway God Bless and thanks for all the help along the way.
