Back in my Day when I started driving a Semi-Truck, all we had was a 23 channel radio and a Hustler Antenna. Now look how far Technology has come.
It's still all you need today.

God I hope so, Magnums are TERRIBLE, Every S9 I ever saw drifted so bad it made a Galaxy seem like it was a great foundation to build a house on...
I've owned two Magnum Radios, and both turned out to be turds with knobs on the front...First was a S9 that everyone told me sounded "tinnie", the other was one of the New Omega Force S45 HP which spent more time at the warranty shop than it did in my possession...
i agree. the s9 iSNT a great ssb rig. but thier cpu controlled radios are as good as a 2950.Sorry some of you guys have had bad luck with the Magnums. I own a OmegaForce S45HP, as well as a 257HP. I have not had any problem with either rig, and both are stable as they can be. The OmegaForce has one of the best receiver sections in it of all my rigs.

was that on SSB or AM, or both?
I just know a local was braggin' on his S9 with a 2 pill... I came in with my Self Tuned Galaxy DX 77HML, and NO AMP and killed him everywhere, AM, FM, and SSB... It was funny cause people kept telling him, "that S9 is drifting BAD", he was like, "Hell no it's not!!!" Then a few of them said , "Man too bad you can;t get your radio to sound like Eric's" that was great feeling
I think this is where Magnum falls short...I know several people who run Magnums, and sound great, and like you said, they have had no problems...Magnums problem is they are not consistent with their radios...It's like there "Hit and Miss"...Least ones built in the last year or so...Which could be why rumors of them dropping the whole "S" line has been posted on several Forums...Maybe they have some sort of production problem going on...Sorry some of you guys have had bad luck with the Magnums. I will give RF Limited credit tho for their Mic's...I have 3 of the RF Limited Extreme 2018's and love them....To bad they can't get their act together on the radios.
Not sure about the SSB part...I never been much into SSB mainly because I only run Mobiles and "Most" mobile SSB radios drift so much it's hard to drive and be continuously trying to fine tune in a station...The S9 was no different than my Galaxy's I have had when it came to drifting...But AM is where I was told by several locals I know, that compared to my other radios, it sounded tinnie, no mater what i tried.

RF limited/Magnum radios really need to drop the whole S line and focus on making a DECENT radio that works well on AM as well as SSB and forget the whole gimmick crap to please the AM loud crowd.. I had an AR 3500 and that was the BEST SSB mobile i ever owned!!!!!!
