Magnum - something in the works?

RF limited/Magnum radios really need to drop the whole S line and focus on making a DECENT radio that works well on AM as well as SSB and forget the whole gimmick crap to please the AM loud crowd.. I had an AR 3500 and that was the BEST SSB mobile i ever owned!!!!!!

Well the "S" line has been discontinued for several months now. That said the S9 was a great radio, I would take one of them used over a Galaxy 88/99 any day any time.

For Magnum the Raptor line of radio's will be the new main series. They will have higher powered versions as well as SSB. Also the 257 and Omegaforce radio's will be updated to 10-12 m.

I got some details last week on what is happening at Magnum.

S series radio production has been discontinued as the factory converted to all SMT.

Looks like they have some new designs in the works using elements from the 257, Omegaforce and Raptor platforms. I wasn't able to get much in the way of details on exactly what they will be creating, Magnum is usually fairly hush hush until right before they release.

It sounds like they definitely are still in the game and are just working on the the next generation of the radios.

The shop I work for was finally able to order more Raptor 2's yesterday. They are quite possibly our highest selling radio.

Once converted to 11 meter they average 100 watts and there are a few little tricks to get the power up slightly more. We deal with drivers almost exclusively, so they work perfect. Good echo if you tune it right, and as long as you take you time with setup it sounds great.

I have heard rumors through my boss and our vendors that there is a 175ish watt and a 300 watt Magnum in the works...maybe a possible cause of the shortage...factory reworking/retooling???
